This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
I wish I could have chickens... I think it would be a lost cause with my dogs. Someday soon I’d like ducks, and a goose, but I think they’ll always have to be in their own safe area.
I want a little duck sanctuary with a pond :~)
Our ducks stay down at the pond & walk single file thru the big pasture to the house/barn when they are hungary till one of us throws a scoop of corn out. After they eat they waddle back down the path they’ve worn back to the pond.
Something has gotten some of the mama’s when they are “sitting” during the summer, so we’ve got a bunch of males. The old black hen duck is so mean she’s gotten away, but they broke up all her eggs.
My ducks have been gone awhile but every winter I have a yard full at supper time. I have pics somewhere.
We bought these. They are mallard, white, Kakhi Campbell, & harlequins + the mean black one.
We get wild geese off & on, but they always leave, too. They are pretty, but my brother says make quite a mess if they stay long. A swan would be pretty.
I had a good size bird flying around in my garage awhile ago. I had left it cracked for the cat. I thought at first it was a bat. They get in sometimes (usually the summer though) and freak me out. I was just a bird though.
It IS cold. One of the barn cats has found his way into the garage and is sleeping on a shelf. There’s a wren out there building a nest in a weedeater hanging up so I’ll have to manuever the cat back to the barn. I don’t think the garage is any warmer than the barn. That cat is one of the two my father-in-law gave to our youngest, and they are both males. I guess it’s neutering time.
Thank you - it’s a bit out of focus. I couldn’t get the daffodil to stand still :-)
No - there’s a rock wall around that flower bed, which is in a sloping area. I set my tripod so that the camera was level with the wall.
don't mean to hog the thread but here's a picture I took yesterday afternoon of my younger dd's horse and my horse.
Swans are extremely mean. I got locked in the house once by TWO of them when I was living on a lake. They saw me, came across the pond, chased me up the beach and into the house. Then guarded the door.
I was about to post our lunging pictures just to contribute ~something~ since we haven't been out on trail to get pictures as fun as Frog and Faith's... :~)
We did a little more spring training this morning to get ours back in shape...
Cyn hasn't been worked since October and she's something of a grouch, so she started out a little on the 'horsey' side...
Then she settled down :~)
My Bay's biggest problem was dealing with interloping ponies :~)
Worked Bay over his cavaletti a little bit :~)
And hubby even worked Cyn over it a little bit, and she was good! She's not nearly as clumsy as we tease her for being.
That's all for today.... now to go work the yard a little more....
Aw - I hope he comes back soon too.
I love the picture of Chester, I’ll keep my fingers crossed he shows up again.
TG - Those are some really nice horses, thanks for the pictures.
Hair - Here it is still winter and you’re out torturing that poor Cyn :) They look great.
Becky, how did the baseball pitcher thing work out?
Cindy - how’s the momma cat.
Nice day here today although I spent it laying floor, doing laundry and cleaning house. :(
She is showing up for 2 meals a day now. I’ve got her a box in there if she wants it.
I would have got me a big stew pot.
The kids all liked it fine:)
