FreeRepublic Saddle Club thread! - Thread 12

Posted on 08/07/2007 7:33:14 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - (very out of date) Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)

I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

My dad taught us all to shoot when I was seven. I was shooting at a coffee can and saw the rooster out of the corner of my eye. I aimed at him and shot = and hit him. My dad just said he figured I had enough target practice - and bury the rooster.

Well, at least he was gone and the only punishment I got was burying the rooster and not getting any more shooting lessons. Only thing I’ve ever shot in my life :)

Do you shoot at all?

I'm not fond of it myself, but I have a snake gun and use it sometimes. My husband always wanted me to hunt with him, so I did go in Dec. But I didn't really enjoy it.

You might want to keep them away from the rest of your critters until you know they aren’t sick.

Good morning.

It’s very cold here today, and they are predicting snow this weekend....I hate winter:)

Been busy. I’m finding out there are lots of legal things to deal with when a spouse dies...and it’s all pretty depressing, and trying to find out the best way to go about things is proving to be a challenge. I guess if Mack taught me anything (not sure if it’s a good thing or bad:), but don’t trust anyone, their only out for their own gain...and everyone has different opinions and advise...sigh...sorry for the downer post, but it’s all getting to me.

Becky

LOL...Duchess, I was going to add, your chickens are cute. I had aracunas for a while. They do lay beautiful eggs, that look so pretty in a carton. Good luck with them.

I did finally get the vet called yesterday, but she hasn’t returned my call yet.

Ugh... Becky I’m sorry you have to go through all that.

Good morning. It’s actually supposed to be kindof nice here the rest of the week.

I know you all hate winter but I would have liked to have had more snow... But not today, I have to go get hay.

I saw on the news today a story about moose coming down into the town of Spokane because of snow making it hard to find food....Are you near there?

Good job on posting the pic! He’s a nice looking horse. Is that you riding him?

We just saw that story too. They’re such clumsy gangly creatures. :~) No - Spokane is at the far east side of the state. And much more likely to have moose than we would be :~)

Yeah, they are funny looking animals:). They had a film clip of one being released. I take it the amount of snow they have there is unusual?

I'm sorry you're having to deal with the legal stuff, and I hope you can get some good advice from someone who doesn't have any ulterior motives.

And I hope you get an early spring!

I little bit unusual yeah... They’ve gotten slammed this year in Eastern WA. But I remember there pretty much being snow on the ground all winter when I was in college too. It’s not unheard of.

The Cascades have something like 12 feet of snow at the pass. And that’s just an hour up the hill from us.

That’s why I feel a little robbed. It all fell here as rain... :~\

I think I sold my motorcycle yesterday...the lady is suppose to bring the money today...we’ll see. Sounded pretty for sure, but you never really know. I mention it because the lady was a loon. I couldn’t believe the things she was telling me...putting herself in the same position I’m in, but after I was thinking her husband had died also, I come to find out he left her...You know is all I could think is lady, where is your sense...I mean it’s sad, but there she stood crying and unloading on me, like I really wanted to hear about it. I kept trying to keep her on the subject of the motorcycle, and landed up having to hug and comfort her, good lord. She even said if I ever needed anything even some one “to crawl in bed with”....she was there for me...good lord...she said getting into bed at night by herself was the hardest thing...LOL...it almost got comical.

I’m going to try hard not to be rude today, but if she starts that crap again today, I’m just going to say right out, “can we just stick with the business of the bike”. I don’t care if I loose the sale.

Becky

I’m always afraid I’m going to post one of those pictures that messes up the scroll bar on the bottom of the thread. I did that once and the only way I could figure out to fix it was to go to photobucket and delete the file.
