This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Wow! Splash Lagoon looks like fun! Having direct access from your hotel is great too, so you don’t have to go out in the cold at all.
Well, I made it to town today. We did get enough sleet Sunday night, that yesterday the roads out by me were solid ice. I tried to make it to town, but after it taking 4 tries, and finally just going in the bar ditch to get up one hill, I decided it wasn’t worth it and went back home. I was only about a mile from home. So I spent the entire day yesterday at the house, luckily I had lots of things recorded to watch:)
Hoping everyone else who is experiencing bad weather is surviving OK.
Glad you're OK now though, hope you didn't dent your truck.
It's shivery but clear today. 14 degrees! Not a lot of snow still, but we might get more tomorrow. As soon as the sun gets up over the trees and brightens up the pasture, I'm going to go out there and get those horses moving a little. They've been standing in the barn for days.

Hello:)
That picture sure looks cold. We are thawing here now, for the next few days, but another blast is expected by this weekend.
I had an interesting rather scary incident happen Sun. morning. A person who was a co-worker with someone else I know, maybe spoke to him 3 times, showed up at my door at 6:00 in the morning, drunk. I never opened the door to his knock, told him to leave and he did. But it inspired me to get new door knobs on my doors that I can lock, and I’m going Sat. to take the class to get my CC. I didn’t really get scared till it was all over, I was mostly mad, at the rudeness/boldness of the whole situation. Charlie gave me some lessons on shooting the shotgun Sun. when he came to put the new doorknobs on, so I’ll be armed and dangerous next time:) I did have my pistol in my hand and pointed at the door when he knocked. People can sure do some strange things can’t they?
Gosh - how scary! What do you suppose he thought he was doing?
Rosie came over, and we walked around in the pasture quite a bit, but the snow is too dry to make a snowball with, let alone a snowman...
So we just took some pictures of horses running around in it...
A couple of dogs in it... (All the ones of Cisco are a blur!)

And Rosie making a snow angel!
Pretty pictures:) Is it still snowy there now?
The guy said he was just in the neighborhood so thought he would stop and say hello....
Aw geeze on the guy... I am sure glad you’ve got locks on the doors and a plan now!
Yeah - still coming down heavy. We may end up with more snow here than we’ve had since I’ve lived at this place!
Cool! Ponies in the Snow!
Bay made TV again! - Baywind Farm Horse Forum
The anchor chick said she wasn't sure if it looked like the horse was enjoying the snow or not :~)
He definitely looks happier about it than he did in that screen cap from last year. He looked pretty miserable in that one. I haven’t seen the video of Pony yet though. Gotta go do that before I got to work coz it sounded pretty cute.
Stopping by to say Merry Christmas to everyone. I’m going to be busy the next couple of days so I’m not sure I’ll be back before the day.
Hope everyone is surviving the nasty winter weather.
Becky
Oh - I’m glad to hear from you! I hadn’t heard from you since your ice storm was coming!
We have about 14 inches of snow and the fun continues... now we have clutch problems in our Ranger so we’re heading out to get that fixed in a few minutes here.
Our own Christmas celebration is post-poned till New Years day because with all the snow and bad roads, none of us has had a chance to get ready for it... physically or mentally!
Today there may be enough meltoff that we can go around and clear the fence, repair wire that has been damaged by falling limbs and tighten stretched-out tape. Then I can turn the fence back on and feel better about leaving the horses and going somewhere.
Even though, I'm not sure this week we'd even need a fence. They have this very beaten down path around the paddock that they don't leave often because it's danged uncomfortable to walk very far in the deep stuff, with an ice layer on it that hits them right about the knees.

Merry Christmas to all :)
I can’t get over the amount of snow you have Hair. It looks like you do have some unhappy horses.
Snow here but just a dusting, we had rain and sleet earlier. We really need the moisture and I’m off until Monday so I’ll just hole up in the house with a good book or two.
Who is Tanker?
I’ll be posting some pics soon. He’s my 5 month old, 50 pound bull dog puppy. Shhh...he doesn’t know he’s a dog though. Merry Christmas to you too.
The horses are just a little stircrazy. They have this one path from the barn out to a sort of ‘landing’ in the paddock, and all they can do is walk back and forth along that. If they get off that path, they immediately regret it.
So they’re looking forward to being able to move around again, more than anything else!
Merry Christmas to ya Duchess. :~)
