This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share, usually about our horses, sometimes about our dogs, gardens and other stuff we do. :~)
I have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will ping everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
Hey - where are you spending this storm?
Anyway...I''m home. We may get some tropical storm winds but that's about it. We were prepared to leave Tue but the track changed and we went to stand by. If Ike decides to make a right turn though, I'll be bugging out of here.
OK - well good luck!
Actually looks like Becky will get bad weather from this one too.
I was thinking about you too and the weather. Glad it may not be so bad for you.
MT. Great news.
I think we are just going to get a lot of rain...I’m interested to see if the creek would flood the bridge, and how the repairs hold up. I should get some pictures of the bridge now. It’s a real eye sore what they’ve done, but I guess if it holds that would be beside the point. I still think the problem is debris from the ice storm choking the water flow, causing back up.
I was thinking of flooding at your bridge, and down in Bixby. Hope you don’t become an island up there!
Good morning.
How are you all this morning? Hope everyone made it through the hurricane and tornados alright and all are safe.
Thanks. Didn’t you get a hurricane last year too? Take care. Looks like stormy weather coming your way.
Morning. We didn’t even get a sprinkle from our almost storm. I had planned to go to my mom’s Tue but cancelled. Now she’s getting the bad weather in central Texas. You just never know with these storms.
We are starting to get a little rain from the hurricane but don’t expect much. It’s moving too far east of Dallas to do much here. I hope Galveston is ok, it’s a neat town. Tons of old mansions, churches and historical sites to visit. Beach sucks, though. Very dirty from the oil and junk that washes up from the Gulf.
Trying to deal with a fungus infection on one of Hannah's mares -the younger one. Two huge patches just showed up on either side of her neck -I'm treating with anti-fungal powder and tinactin spray.
They will be ok. It’s not their first storm:’) I was just relieved to wake up hearing the media talk about downed trees. When I went to bed they were predicting towns would be wiped off the map and bodies everywhere.
Hello, Nothing happening here yet. Rain expect sometime tonight from the hurricane.
Yeah, I’m wondering if the bridge will flood again. I’m taking my camera home with me tonight to get pictures if it does.
Well, shoot - I’m sorry you didn’t at least get some rain, but glad no problems for you. The news coverage on this one had me convinced half of the US was in serious trouble. I guess it was really bad for areas but not as widespread as I expected.
Glad to hear you’re going to be okay. I got pulled away from the computer this morning so I don’t know how badly Galveston got hit yet, last night I expected it to cease to exist.
Glad you’re okay.
If you find something that works well with the fungal infection let me know if you would. A friend’s stud has that on his neck and so far in the past year nothing seems to work.
The last picture I remember seeing of that bridge didn’t look like it would survive any increase in water at all. I hope it doesn’t wash out more.
Bad for our neighbors but good for us. We are saturated already...way before IKE showed up. The people that need rain are central Texas (Austin up) and it’s going to miss them, it looks like.
Well they have patched all the washed out spots, and put up those cement barriers along both sides...it looks like crap. It’s suppose to be replaced within a year...
The rain has started to fall here now, it’s coming down pretty good, but so far no wind.
I think they hyped this storm just a little too much. I too, thought when I got up this morning that Galveston would be wiped off the map. It rained off and on here all day but nothing major. Not even any puddles where I am. It’s windy, though. And the weather for the next five days is going to be absolutely lovely and fall-like. Lows in the upper fifties, highs in the low eighties. It’s been humid and 95.
It’s a double edged sword. If people had not been scared them more would have stayed which would have been worse but people will remember the next time.
