AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Aug 6 - Aug 10, 2007) [Remember the Trade Center!!]

I mentioned on the weekend thread that French President Nicolas Sarkozy was visiting the US in New Hampshire instead of European resorts. Apparently, he got into a brouhaha with reporters yesterday while boating. He jumped into the AP reporter's boat and let him have it verbally in French. I guess he takes vacationing with his family very seriously and when he says I want to be alone, he means it. ;-)

Good Morning!

We were to get rain last night, but so far not a thing. Same old, same old.

Worked on the Nature Trail at the park where I worked yesterday. We dug out a stump.

My supervisor told me I should have used dynamite. Now that would have been fun!

Good Morning everyone! We had 3 1/4 inches of rain last night,,, that makes around 6 inches for the past week.

I’m heading out soon for anothe bp test. Whatever the test reads today determines whether or not I need meds.

Good Morning!

Coming back from Mass this morning, a car swerved into my lane. I had to swerve into the left lane to keep from having that car hit me.

My goodness... I am still shaking from that one. The good Lord was taking care of me at that point!

Jim, I lit a candle for you after Mass, and another for all those who could use a little extra help from above.

Off to work!

Howdy All.

Rav I’m sorry to hear about your fence. What a bunch of boobs! Personally, I like the looks of a nice fence. But I live in the county and just have to keep my yard clipped.

I’ve been out of the loop, what has happened to Dog?

We have company, so I won’t be here for a while. In fact I should be down there making tea and coffee for us. She doesn’t eat red meat, so guess I’ll have to get some chicken, had fish last night.

It’s going to be in the 100s today, looks like our whole country is suffering a heat wave.

I have had that happen to me twice. The second time hubby was the one driving. A truck was passing us and misjudged the space between us when he decided to move back into the right lane. We were on the I65 bridge going over the Tennessee River when this happended and we were forced off the road into the shoulder. I am so glad it has a wide shoulder.

I got the number of that truck. Then, a second truck of the same fleet passed us and I got the 1-800 number of the company. I did call.

I don’t know what happened to the driver after that. I hope they punished him because we would have been in the water if the bridge had not been so wide.

The last time I had that happen to me, I blew the horn at the guy and he slowed down and blew kisses to me. Well, I reported him too after getting the number of the company off the truck. i was told he was to be fired. It wasn't what I wanted but he was probably an employee who had been reported previously for driving dangerously.

To this day, I still wonder if he was lagally here just because of his demeanor, attitude and look. I know, I know, I'm profiling.

GO AHEAD AND PROFILE. We are losing our heritage because we are not profiling. We should question and challenge those who fit the profile, not because we intend to treat others improperly but because we all need to highlight illegals and encourage them, vebally (not by hate names, but by saying “you’re illegal and you should leave”) and also through legal means, to leave the country and then enter legally. We all have the responsibility to protect this country.

I have wondered about that driver. Perhaps that near-miss was an anomoly. If so, he needs to be aware that his judgement isn’t perfect and he should double and triple check before lane changing. However, if he was a habitual bad driver he should be off the road! Either way, we both did right in reporting these incidents.

Good morning everybody and thanks for the ping NY. Gorgeous morning here, and I’ll not go into the temperature.

I’ve developed a soreness in my lower back that is probably going to keep me from golfing as planned today. Dang it anyway! sigh...

Have a great day everybody.

I am irritated. I have a HewlittPackard Pavilion laptop computer. I have one question for them so I tried calling them to ask it. It was extremely difficult to find the correct number to call for a non-crisis question. In fact, when I finally got through to a human and eventually asked my question, the person on the other end told me I had called the wrong number, “but he could connect me.”

However, prior to even asking my question, he asked me all sorts of questions about the type of my computer, my phone number, he knew who else in my household had HP products. It was all in the database! And he wanted to add to that database.

But none of that was pertinent to my question. AAAaaargh!

He started calling me by my Christian name. I quickly corrected that and said “Call me Mrs. XXX.” He apologized but throughout the rest of the call, he avoided calling me by name. It is ludicrous to have people who don’t know me, and don’t have a relationship with me to assume a chumminess that just isn’t there.

At one point I interrupted his queries to say, “none of this pertains to my questions.” He asked what the problem was with my computer. I told him there was no problem and I had a question, that I was seeking information.

Reluctantly he asked what information I wanted. That was when he said I had callen the wrong number, “but he could connect me.”

Yet, instead of connecting immediately, he continued asking for info like my email and how could HP contact me in the future. I declined to give the email and I said that I did not want HP pestering me in the future. He continued to flounder around in HP’s programed responses. I hung up.

The whole call irritated me in the difficulty getting to a place where I could actually talk to a person and the difficulty in getting them to leave their assumptions about my call and to what I wanted to learn.

I still haven’t gotten the information I sought.

/blowing off steam

Oh Jem, I feel the same way about poeple assumming that casual attitude of today's world when they are trying to get information from me. Call me a fuddy duddy, but there it is!

HP has been wonderful with me every time I've been connected to their help desk. I realize you were after different "help" and know thqt it should n't be so difficult. The young man you spoke with was not using his head nor his customer service skills. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt that he had CS skills, since so many who do that kind of work do not!

You've a legit reasion to need to blow off steam!
