More details from the London Bomb plots emerge.
July 4 falls in the middle of the week, and the first full month of summer begins.
Hello everyone!
Hope you were able to celebrate the 4th then, Dog. We are getting ready for next week end when we have our BBQ and golf. All the beds are ready to receive some guests, the motel is taking care of the rest. I’ve already y’all why we’re doing it this year, after a 2 year hiatis. I’m used to doing all the preliminary work myself, so it’s kind of confusing with Roomey helping me.
Hi, till. LionsDaughter and I just got back from our Fourth of July celebration. We traveled up to Birmingham to hear the UAB summer band; we’ve played in it in previous years; and watch the “Thunder on the Mountain” fireworks. It’s always good.
My brother, SIL and nephew were playing this year and the clarinets all begged me to join them. Alas, I left my axe back at home overseas. But it was flattering to be asked. Unfortunately, I did not win the raffle to conduct “The Stars and Stripes Forever.” But I did win a gift from a friend ~~ a new computer. It is sitting on the floor here in my room and I’ll boot it up tomorrow and configure it for service.
It was sort of like old home week. I was looking toward the stage prior to the concert and thought this guy looked familiar. I kept looking and then called out. It turns out it was my nephew! Then, after the concert, I moved over to a parking lot to better see the fireworks and this woman looked at me and called my name. I answered and stared at her. She said, “I’m xxxxx.” Recognition dawned. It was a woman I had led to the Lord in 1974. She has married the man she was dating then and they’re in ministry together up in B’ham.
It was a nice concert, with some good patriotic songs, including “Eternal Father, Strong To Save”.
I hope everyone had an enjoyable Fourth! Happy Freedom!
Good morning to all.............what a wonderful July 4th celebration....hope everyone got to enjoy yesterday.
Jemian, your day sure was fun...lots of good music, fireworks and meeting old friends.
My granddaughter who lives in Calif..celebrated her 16th birthday yesterday...sure wish I could have been there. She is my first grandchild and holds a special place in my heart.
Toby, I am a new comer to this thread and I don’t post everyday, but I love ATRW because of all the interesting and caring folks who check in here either daily or just once in awhile. Toby, you post almost everyday and mean so much to all the ATRW folks and the Lurkers too. Keep spreading that love and joy of life that you share with us all.
Keeping all of the good folks in ATRW in my thoughts and prayers.
Good morning.
Looks to be a beautiful day here in N IL............HOT, though.
Off to don the bug repellent and check out the flowers.
Loved the July 4th activity stories....We watched a little of the neighborhood parade. Someone must have a connection to the city FD, because 2 fire engines showed up to participate, and sizewise, they kinda overwhelmed the bikes, trikes, and walkers. LOL!
Oh, and we took a short, vigorous hike in the valley....very peaceful and relaxing.
Eldest son and I got back from Milwaukee's Summerfest yesterday. (World's largest music festival) We saw Roger Waters of Pink Floyd on Monday night, and Ben Folds, Brett Denemm and John Mayer on Tuesday evening.
Waters was good but got too political, ranting on about the evils of George Bush. (Good grief...)
Tuesday evening's concert was even better. Best of all after John Mayer was finished, we went over to see blue's guitarist, Buddy Guy. While watching Buddy Guy performing John Mayer showed up on stage unannounced. The place went wild. They played together for almost an hour!
Algore's son, caught speeding and high in CA, has been released after bail -$20,000 in cash - was posted.

GOOD A.M. FROM THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST, BRUISED STILL, WET, GETTING WETTER AND FEMA GOING BONKERS IN SELLING THINGS SO CHEAP, LETTING ICE STILL STORED, THROWING IT AWAY, STORAGE COST LIKE THE NATIONAL DEBT (yep, hack off this morning with the federal government (agencies).
So what else, had a good dinner last night with preacher and wife, his grand kids didn’t show up, no rain until after fireworks. Chickens went bonkers, turkey took them in stride. Ole Tom is really starting to strut, bows up like he owns the place. Gotta get me a couple more to replace the two that died. TJ was hiding at first, got where he held sparklers and loved it, the big boomers he would hid in D’s lap. That boy sure is cute and must admit, getting better, a little. Hopefully we hear something this week.
Bout time for the ‘big house’ to get moving, might as well do a little, very little, cleaning my shack and get it over with.
All have a good day, and tell that loved one you love them and give them a big ole hug and a big ole kiss.
Toby
Just got in from attacking Japanese Beetles and slugs.
Want them to expire real good!
Did everyone see the article about Mitt Romney and "the evil pair whose name I don't like saying"... meeting up in Iowa yesterday? That's what I get for seeking out election news... the news folks falling all over themselves to print such glowing reports on the evil pair....makes me gag!!!
So Gore Jr......was picked up in Calif. with quite a few drugs in the car...hmmmmmmmmm ....bet that news won't be 24/7 headlines....like it would be it had been one of the twins.....any bets on that?
Mitt Romney, I do believe that he just lost the election last week when it came out about him traveling with the dog on top of the car. That may be an old incident, it has nothing to do with politics, but it does reveal some of his thought processes. I don’t believe he’ll be able to recover respect from many of us.
Hi Jem, it sounds like you had a wonderful 4th of July. It’s nice when in a large crowd you’re recognized by someone and recognize you’ve not seen in awhile. The clarinets knew a clarinetist when they say one. That was such a nice compliment.
I’ve dug around and found 3 “dinners” that are easy and not expensive to prepare for your “dinner”. I’ll FRmail them later today.
So far, I’ve fixed breakfast, put laundry in the washer, some in the dryer, cleared off the coffee table, except for the old cowboy boots and other vases I’ll be using for flowers before and during the barbeque. Now I’m getting ready to WD-40 the guest shower stalls and doors, then I’ll sweep out the garage and clean my car. The poor car looks like some homeless people have been living in it for months.
AND it’s raining AGAIN. We’ll never get the yard looking like we want. We’ve had weeks of rain. There’s a high sitting on each side of a low and the low is sucking up moisture from the gulf. People around here are just amazed, they don’t remember this happening in their lifetime.
What a handsome feller. When you talk to him, give him our best and a big thank you.
See if grass carp can do the trick, your county agent may help you.
I wish I could say that. But I've played with them before. They knew me.
It’s always such a pleasure to “see” and “hear” you each day, Toby. I know you had a wonderful 4th. We did too, but didn’t grill, as it........rained, again. It’s raining now..oh me.
I’m looking forward to your grandson’s picture, next week.
Congratulations, that’s good to hear, boss.
Happy Birthday yesterday, HOB! How wonderful it is that everyone all over the US and at embassies around the world shoot off fireworks in celebration.
