The Dragonflies' Lair ~ Thread XXXVII~May, June 2007

My Dragonfly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Going along thanks. I have to elevate the legs and feet soon they are getting mighty uncomfortable.

We began the day with sunshine, it was gorgeous, it hid behind some clouds and brought showers, and I just now heard thunder.

The birds were out this morning, Cardinals, Blue Jays, Sparrows are coming to the bird baths for a drink. I love that. The garden is so pretty now.

Do you compute with your feet on the floor? I put my feet up on a stool.

Is it both heat and humidity that affect you?

It's another hot day here. 87 in the sun and 82 in the shade with humidity rising. After a couple hot days outside, I'm hanging in and doing some neglected housework.

Walking will pump fluid out of the legs, it’s the ony thing that really does.

It’s below 80 now; temps. dropped quickly for some reason. Pollen’s brutal.

Walking yes, helps, sitting is bad for me anyway with the back issues. I have had Phlebitis a number of times, too.

Rain really cooled things down here, had thunder showers all afternoon, cold front moving for both of us I would guess.
Pollens don't seem to bother me all that much. At least I have that going for me. I know you suffer with them.

Thanks Lady, I do appreciate your kindness.

The swelling is easing as the temp drops.

Pink sky tonight looks to be a good weather day tomorrow.

Well, let's continue on our Bangkok tour (as I develop my Off The Beaten Path posting style! (Thanks WayzataJohnn for the company name!)

1.) As you may recall, we stopped right at this street, which is the touristy, paved avenue that winds around three sides of the monastery that the Chinese temple was in.

2.)Now let's look at some of the decorations in the cafes along this street. There's nothing "fine" about this art! It's all mass produced, and you'll see the same (and related) pieces in this guest house or that one. Still, might be fun to look at the decorations!
Here is a very Thai-themed piece.

3.)Here's a strange and brooding figure!

4.)Definitely a unique looking fellow here!

5.)To the Western eye this sure looks like a pitiable figure! I'm no expert, but I think in Thailand this is a more respectful and dignified position, like honoring an important person or something (notice the clasped hands? That's a traditional Thai greeting), but he sure looks pitiful to us! At least he's smiling!

6.)The SE Asian equivalent of Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil? Maybe, more like Bang A Drum, Bang A Drum, Buy Some Buns!

7.)This serious thinker looks like he spends a lot of time in the Lair!

8.) And this brings us to the small garden and fish pond outside my hotel (cost for the night,$14.28). Let's walk up and get a closer look!

9.)Ah, what lovely surroundings!

10.)There are definitely worse hotels in the world!

11.)Well, let's say goodbye to the fish for now. Next time we'll walk up to the roof top pool and enjoy the view from there, then we'll stroll down to the riverside. After that we'll finish up with a walk through the street market, and that will end the tour! (but I also have a few bonus "night life" pictures I'll add later)

How’s Your Evening

A dream
upon an internal landscape
where anything can be
and everything may be
as evening is softly draped
as we deem

To travel
in a Viking style winged boat
coursing freely across a golden sky
laughing as you take wing and fly
why live by reason and rote
let reason ravel

Dally and drifting
exploring a far place
as dragons vie to join up to pull
and rainbows fill our sails full
as we watch comets race
and novas shifting
