With the blessing of DollyCali, I will be your host for this, the NFL Draft weekend!
A certain percentage of you probably don't know me, and some of you do. So let me give you the crash course, impromptu introduction...
GOP_Raider, a distinguished and wise poster at Free Republic, is a senior fellow at the National Institute of Hitting It. He is the author of such wisecracks as "Does Ted Kennedy cure hangovers by never sobering up?" and "Annoying liberals before annoying liberals was cool." GOP_Raider is single and lives in a well-armed compound somewhere in the western United States.
So yeah, as I mentioned earlier it's NFL Draft weekend, feel free to humor me with anything draft related or any recent stories of all of your dating experiences, good or bad.
Thanks for having me!

I’m single, 3’2”, 495 lbs (the diet is working), one good eye and 2 kinda good teeth..I just got a raise to almost $6.25 per hour and am lookin for a woman. any interested? my interests include watching worms crawl, liberal bashing, and folding clothes. Plus, I enjoy NFL football and am an avid couch potato come football season.
CJ goes second.

So where and when do you think Zabranski (sp?) will go? My Bucs need a couple of good backup QBs...they need to get rid of Gradkowski, if they haven't already.

You can start by telling our buddy Al Davis if he doesn't’t take Jamarcus Russel with the first pick he is even more senile then I thought.....*wink*....
(Old Raider fan before they skipped town).....*smile*
NFL Draft....Hockey and Basketball.....so many sports, not enough beer.....

I have a sister-in-law that might be interested. She’ll be paroled next month, and will be pursuing a career in taxidermy and pit bull breeding. She was Miss Bovina, Texas in 1975, and her children are all grown or incarcerated. She is entirely debt free after all these years, and she likes diets. Heaven knows she’s tried them all, and you can work together on it. Hey, it could work!

My brother and I were discussing this very thing this afternoon. To be perfectly honest, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Jared going in the first day of the draft. I’ve heard a few people compare him to a QB like Jeff Garcia FWIW. He’d probably be a really good fit with Tampa now that I think about it...

If he’s being compared to Garcia that is an insult, not a compliment.

And we're off! Thanks for the ping and the thread.
Do we really think that Jamarcus Russell has the leadership to bring back the glory days of the Silver and Black? I'm near Baton Rouge, and the locals have often said that he's not very good at clock management. Is that something that we think he can develop?
Otherwise, do folks generally follow just their favorite teams or do they follow the entire draft? How many people follow their favorite pro teams and how many are really just looking to see where the players from their favorite college teams end up going?

I think Russell has the toughness to be a Raider as opposed to say a Brady Quinn......need more street smarts then IQ points....Leadership?....well we shall just see...and I for one follow all the picks at least thru the 2nd round...after that I’m looking more at my team for sure..
To: GOP_Raider
Dern tootin'. I haven't checked the Bucs webpage lately, but I sure hope we s-can that worthless Gradkowski and Eugene (whoever the hell he is), and make room for Z. He could learn plenty from Simms and Garcia (even though we gave Garcia plenty of headaches in the playoff back in '03!). Who knows...at least we have at least one decent backup QB this year.

FYI..Russel was on a sports talk show in NYC this afternoon..he’s here for the draft tomorrow, and he told the hosts that neither he or his agents had ever been contacted by the Raiders...
