Seems that no one has "taken the reins" tonight, for the singles thread. I guess I'll have to.
What to talk about....
Anything we want to, really. I guess.
How about this??
Are the gas/travel prices going to affect your travel plans for this summer/spring??
In MY case--I KNOW it will.
Combined with me recently loosing my "secondary" job--I do not have the money to really go anywhere this summer. Nor did I really want to go to MB with my sister and cousin again, (it will be her 14th time there, or so--and would be my 6th time) to mainly be "there for the drive" for both of them.
So--no real travel for me. Things are in a mess anyway here. My mothers job is REALLY becoming a problem for her--an Arab woman is trying to "trump up" some things to get her fired. And I already spoke about loosing my second job. So--things are getting tighter and more tense here.
SO--lets ROLL!!
The whole story is sad, but not entirely unexpected. How many folks in any country would be aboe to recognise radioactive material? Not many. I dare say that kids, especially, would simply think that it is some really cool-looking glowing stuff.
Clinton Sucks the pet rock and Brownsuga always rocks ! :)
I couldn’t have said it better myself. ;->
How about the fact that come September, I wont be single anymore. Can I still come here?
...occasionally to be nosy... and Congratulations!
Haha, I’m just reading this thread for about the first time. (i looked at the official thread one time, now IT was boring!)
Thanks for the kick. We’ll work on the interesting part. (wink)
You’re only technically single. So are you even technically here?
Where do you think Hoodie and I met?
oops.
I’m here to help.... wink ;-)
As I said previously, I was planning to volunteer for this weekend but wasn't going to make it official until Monday night. I was going to use Monday night to ensure that I could prepare the thread that I wanted. As it turns out, I didn't do much of anything all week, but I'll try to do the official pings for the rest of the weekend. I'm not going to ping both unofficial threads, and this one had more posts. Furthermore, RCA2000 started us off with a question, and it's still a pretty good question for the start of a thread.
For those who missed it, you can click on the "first" link to see it again. I'll also summarize and expand on the question. RCA200 asked whether rising gas prices were likely to change anyone's vacation plans for the summer. To expand on that idea, what other changes will you make in your life as a result of rising gas prices? Is anyone considering a "hybrid" car or truck?
If you want to play around on the other thread, it's at A (quasi-official) Weekend Singles thread.
Thanks,
Bill

READ: 2 Corinthians 1:3-11
We had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead. 2 Corinthians 1:9 In J.R.R. Tolkiens fictional The Lord of the Rings, a simple, good-hearted hobbit by the name of Frodo Baggins is entrusted with a dangerous mission. Together with a group called the Fellowship of the Ring, he must defeat the forces of evil by returning a magic gold ring to the fires of Mount Doom from which it was forged.
Along the way, evil stalks Frodo. Battles are lost. Friends die. Reflecting on such tragedies, Frodo confides in his wise friend Gandalf, I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish that this had never happened. Gandalf replies, So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All you must decide is how to use the time that is given to you.
In the fellowship of the cross, a servant of Christ is also tested. Like Paul, we may feel crushed under the weight of circumstances (2 Cor. 1:3-11). The path seems too steep to climb. We wonder if there is a dawn beyond the darkness.
Though we may not choose our circumstances, we do choose whether to trust God (2 Cor. 1:9). Through the fellowship of the Son and the enablement of the Spirit, we can carry out our mission for God (1 Cor. 1:9; John 16:13).
Trust Him to guide you along the way. He offers wise counsel.
If it does get you down, just go to the Friday silliness thread for a quick pick-me-up and get back over here for general gossip.
BTW, did the two unofficial threads for the weekend ever tie the knot?
Not IIRC...
If there was ONE major decision that you made in the last five years (since 2002), and you could go BACK and UNDO it:: what would that be—or would there be one??(it can be anything—a decision regarding a job, some financial decision, one involving a relationship or such—anything.)
In MY case-—without a DOUBT—it would be college. I feel that was one of the WORST decisions I have made in many years. not only did I waste over 20k that I will be repaying for a long time, but my “career” has done nothing for me. Since I have NO experience in working on computers and/or networks, there is no remotely decent job I can get in that field. As ALWAYS— my “old standby”—my consumer electronics repair career(which was mostly self-taught) has (and is) keeping me. This looks like it will not change either in the near future. Then too...there was the whole mess with Holly...something that is still affecting my (in)ability to relate to or even talk to women. ALL in all—if I could do the whole 2002-2004 college experience over again—I would NOT!!
