The Sox and Yankees are resuming their long standing rivalry with and a mix of old and new faces. The Sox have upgraded their team with additions of JD Drew, Julio Lugo and Dice-K. The Yankees return with changes to the starting rotation and the subtraction of Gary Sheffield. Both teams figure to compete deep into the season.
For two states without much to brag about with respect to their elected officials,
Chucky and Hidabeast vs the Flip Flopping Gigalo and the Swimmer
or
The Spitter vs Coupe Deval
Here's to another season of Yankees vs Red Sox on FR!
Perhaps Tek needs a break. If the Sox win tonight then it should only take them another week to clinch. Varitek could then basically get a bye week in preparation for the playoffs.
Boros is still going to be asking for 4 more years at $8 million a pop when Tek becomes a FA. The Red Sox screwed up by not stocking up on catchers in the farm system.
Agreed. Theo dropped the ball in that department.
I kind of assumed for a while that the Sox we’re going to get Cleveland in the divisional round but now it’s a coin toss between them and the Angels. Heck even a possible matchup against Detroit isn’t totally out of the question either.
Its a beautiful thing.
We need for the Angels to draw the Yankees. That way when they beat them for the 3rd time in a divisional series in 6 years. I don’t want to have to face the Yankees again in a series. We don’t match up well against them.
Looks like the Yankees string of 9 straight division crowns might come to an end. I think only the Braves had a longer streak (14 if you don’t count the strike year). This might also be the first time in 7 years the Yankees don’t win at least 95 games. Another impressive streak.
You can’t fault the Red Sox fans. They’re just giddy about getting back to the playoffs after finishing a weak 3rd in the division (8th out of 14 in the AL) last season.
Looking forward to Rogers reception tonight
Yeah, with multiple injuries, guys on the DL for August and September they really fell apart at the end of last year.
I know the Yankee fans certainly didn’t use injuries as an excuse earlier this year when their team was battling Tampa for last in the division./s
It should be interesting. When he was supposedly done in 2003 the fans in Boston gave him major acknowledgement as he left the mound. However, as long as he is willing to put on the pinstripes he will receive his normal level of abuse.
Will be hopping around between the game and the O.J.Simpson saga.
How are you going to handle tonight’s action - 2 TVs? Hitting the “Recall” button the remote between pitches/snaps?
Pretty much with particpation on two threads!!
The Boston Red Sox are winning 1-0 in the third inning and somehow the New England Patriots are moving their offense against San Diego without benefit of knowing the other teams signals.
I am focused on that game more than the Sox although Schilling and Clemmens have turned back time tonight back to 2001’s game 7 match up.
Cano owns Schilling. Another HR
1-1 after seven innings.
DAMN! F’in Jeter hits a 3-run homer off Schilling. That’s probably the ballgame...
That sucked. Schilling had turned the clock back for 7 innngs tonight.
I am VERY impressed with Jacoby Ellsbury.
Here’s Saint Mariano...
