Needing FReeper Help
TBP | Right now! | TBP

I'd like some references from any fellow FReepers who may be able to help, especially those on the Left Coast.

I sent out a parody Shakespeare script to some folks in the Bay Area and they need to find actors who can do it. (They are interested in doing it, but they thought we had a troupe and we don't.)

Does anyone here know anyone who might be able to do this?

TOPICS: Arts/Photography; Books/Literature; Humor; Music/Entertainment
KEYWORDS: shakespeare
Thanks in advance for all the help you can give.

Nope, sorry, I don’t know any acting troupes, but it sounds interesting.

Why don't you search the Internet for small coffee houses in Left Coast cities (in case the coffee house has a website) get their phone numbers, and call around.

Cities like SF, Seattle, and Portland,OR, have lots of acting groups and actors who might like to give your script a try.

Calling on the phone might give you some "on the ground" info about the local scene. Good luck.

I don’t have any direct knowledge but I know that Ashland Oregon hosts an annual Shakespeare festival. If I remember correctly there were continuous performances of all sorts on multiple stages. You might be able to score some contacts here: http://www.orshakes.org/

I actually have some interest in the thing from a Renaissance Festival, but they need actors to do it, so I’m trying to help make a connection. Not easy from the East Coast.

Well, sort of.

My Nephew is a producer... but he tends to the really outlandish. For example he plays Satan in San Francisco's annual Satan Show, and does other high art works such as Attack of the Zombie Girls".

He primarily designs and builds Renaissance Fair structures and builds things that get burned up... such as the "Clock Tower" at the 2005 "Burning Man" celebration.

I don't think he is too into Shakespeare...

:’) “let still the woman take an elder than herself: so wears she to him, so sways she level in her husband’s heart: for, boy, however we do praise ourselves, our fancies are more giddy and unfirm, more longing, wavering, sooner lost and worn, than women’s are.” [SF doesn’t have a lot of interest in Shakespeare for some reason ;’) ]
