Anna Nicole's doctor faces state investigation

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The psychiatrist who prescribed all 11 of the drugs found in Anna Nicole Smith's hotel room after the tabloid star died is under investigation by the Medical Board of California, a spokeswoman for the state agency said on Thursday. Dr. Khristine Eroshevich, who prescribed more than 1,800 pills and a bottle of the powerful sedative chloral hydrate for Smith in the five weeks before she died of a drug overdose, could lose her medical license if the board finds misconduct on her part.

Anna Nicole Self-Portrait Up for Sale on eBay

HOLLYWOOD - An original self-portrait signed by Anna Nicole Smith has been placed on auction Web site eBay with a starting big of $1.7 million.

The unnamed seller has given fans of the tragic model a week to bid for the artwork, and plans to close the sale on April 15.

In the accompanying literature on eBay, he writes, “This is an original painting of Anna Nicole painted by Anna Nicole herself! It is signed by her and the picture is of her lying down naked.

“This is a rare opportunity to own something so personal from Anna Nicole Smith!”

He goes on to state the portrait was painted between 2002 and 2003, adding, “As you can see by her signature, this picture is authentic.”

Diaries expose ‘childish’ mind of Anna Nicole

TWO diaries penned by Anna Nicole Smith reveal a troubled young woman professing to be deeply in love with 89-year-old oil tycoon Howard Marshall - but often depressed about sex and her weight.

Their release came as the Medical Board of California said it was investigating the doctor who prescribed all 11 of the drugs found in Smith’s hotel room after her death.

Dr Khristine Eroshevich, who prescribed more than 1800 pills and the sedative chloral hydrate for Smith in the five weeks before she died of a drug overdose, could be deregistered if the board finds misconduct on her part.

The diaries, written in a child-like and often illiterate scrawl, detail the two years before she married billionaire Mr Marshall in 1994.

She was also being chased at the time by Guess Jeans CEO Paul Marciano who eventually dumped Claudia Schiffer to have Smith in his company’s high-profile jeans campaign.

“I’ve been really stressed out lately and depressed and I can’t quit eating,” Smith wrote in big loopy writing.

“I feel like a pig. Howard has been buying me some jewellery but he calls me 15 or 20 times a day - it drives me crazy. I love him but he aggravates me sometimes.

“I don’t know what to do about Paul, he’s a strange guy. I hate for men to want sex all the time. I hate sex anyway.”

New extracts from the diaries were released yesterday by Heritage Auctioneers, which is reselling them for a German buyer who paid $620,000 for them on eBay last month.

Her second diary is a smaller spiral-bound paperback calendar from 1994.

The individual entries are not dated but describe her relationship with Mr Marshall, who was ill and died in 1995.

“He’s so very weak and fragile. When I touch him I’m afraid he might break,” she wrote. “If Jesus decides to take him I don’t know what I’ll do. I love him so much it hurts me to sit and watch him when he’s hurting I just want to hold him, touch him, let him know how much I care.”

Meanwhile, Playboy magnate Hugh Hefner yesterday released photos of Smith, who he described as the Marilyn Monroe of the 21st century.

“There was very clearly a Marilyn Monroe quality about her and that aspiration was clear from the very beginning,” Hefner said.

All Systems Go for Tuesday DNA Reveal

TMZ has confirmed all players are getting in place for the most dramatic moment in the Anna Nicole baby saga, and it will definitely happen Tuesday.

The people who need to be there have booked their tickets. Dr. Michael Baird, the DNA expert from Ohio, has cleared his schedule and will be front and center in a Bahamian court to authenticate his DNA findings. Larry Birkhead will be there, hoping to hear the critical word -- "match." If his DNA matches Dannielynn's, it will almost certainly change everything.

We're told Howard K. Stern has filed no objections since his appeal was rejected last week. The only rub could come in the rather large form of Virgie Arthur, the now universally disliked but omnipresent grandmother of Dannielynn.

One other item -- as we said on Greta's show several days ago, reports that Birkhead has hired a wrongful death lawyer are bogus. The fact is, Birkhead has no legal standing to sue for Anna's death. That would be Dannielynn's deal, and Birkhead doesn't have authority to represent her, at least not yet.

Birkhead has now issued the following statement on his website: "I have not hired or consulted anyone to represent me in a wrongful death suit. That accusation is totally false. The individual that started reporting this 'fact' didn't take the time to contact me or my attorneys to find out the truth. I have not even thought that far as of yet. Paternity first. Everything else next."

Hey that is great news...hope they do a real investigation as opposed to the fiasco in fla. and cannot wait for the DNA revelation... finally some things moving forward in this case, yet still so far to go.

So far what I’ve found about cpr is that there are protocols that first responders use to determine if cpr should be or needs to be tried - bu they don’t have to follow the protocols - for instance - if a family member finds someone down and unresponsive and they call for help having done nothing themselves - and the emt’s arrive to find a person with signs of lividity or rigor - and the family member is very upset wanting their loved one to be worked on - the emt’s many times do this just for the family - even though they know it will not help.

And if a bystander begins lifesaving efforts after an unknown downtime - even if there are obvious signs to the emt’s that it’s not going to work - they must continue till a Dr. calls it.

I think the cpr will cause the blood to circulate for quite a while after the person is really dead - but it will not exhange oxygen for co2 - like the blood just pumps around - but it’s not doing it’s job really.

I was really puzzled to hear Perper say that she was warm to the touch when she arrived at the hospital. He clarified that more recently, after most of us thinking he meant that she was warm to the touch just when Tas and Brigitte discovered her condition.

It’s hard to say what “warm to the touch” really means, objectively. How much cooler than 98.6 does skin have to be before it no longer feels warm?

I believe a dead body cools 1.5 degrees per hour. We can assume that she was running a slight elevation in temp that day, even tho not the 105° so often noted.

Also, she had been covered with a comforter, which retained the body heat for some period of time, and we don’t know how low the air conditioning was set or the ambient room temp, which a dead body “wants” to assume.

I don’t think it would be out of the realm of possibility for her body temp to have been lowered by 6 degrees (4 hours) from say, 101°, to 95° and still feel relatively “warm” to the touch of a person whose own body temp is in the normal 98.6° range.

Women retain body heat longer than men because of the fat cells, so that would also contribute to a warm temp. It’s just so hard to say what “warm” means in this subjective reading by “feel.”

Think how hot a 95° day feels or 95° hot tap water feels. Pretty warm.

I don't dislike Virgie Arthur...I don't think I have any idea what she has been through trying to bring up ANS. I have a friend whose daughter has, figuratively speaking, fried her brains with drugs and is probably considered Bi-Polar now. She's been to psychologists, psychiatrists, and every kind of doctor available, and she still craves drugs and is not mentally competent. My friend has blamed everyone - doctors and men friends - for the daughter's problems from early childhood until now, and has never blamed the presently grown woman for her actions. The mother is an enabler, but I have not faced her problems so I can't say for sure what I would do.

We try to give an amp of Sodium Bicarb down the tube, we only get half an amp in when it comes back up through the tube. Monitor still shows asystole. The patient was transported to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Comment: When nothing seems to go right with a case it might be that the original assumptions that you are operating might not be correct. As in this case the airway difficulty was probably due to rigor mortis. It can be difficult to establish down time particularly as in this case where the patient was under a blanket and felt warm. In this case nothing went right because of the original assumption that the patient was a candidate for resuscitation.”

I really don’t think they are still there in Nassau, anyway. That interview in Ben Thompson’s house seemed to have been done 2 weeks ago, because Gary mentioned Dannielynn’s 6-mo checkup (where they were hounded by paparazzi—right?) as being just a few days previous - and that was done the week before the DNA was taken, Mar 21.

All that lying and subterfuge - to talk about Easter when it was still 3-4 weeks away. The taunting and baiting of Dannielynn’s real family through these hit pieces are just flabbergasting.

Someone needs to track the origin of these big ticket items - the self portrait and the diaries. If, as I believe, they were from KE, this income should help the DEA and IRS look into this. Payment from a patient in the form of diaries, paintings and other memorabilia likely to one day have an increased value is a form of income. This would apply to HKS as well. If they are not declaring this as income theres another issue to go after to keep the pressure on.

I tend to agree with you PeskyOne. We really cannot say what our actions would be in this type of situation.

However imho tough love sure beats out an enabler.

While looking at ANS's early life, quite a few people should feel a sense of quilt, from her mom, to a horny old coot (J Howard Marshall), some of ANS's directors who took advantage of a young, uneducated, undisciplined girl.

To some beauty can be a gift, and to others beauty can be a curse if not used wisely.
