LOS ANGELES Film director Robert Clark, best known for the beloved holiday classic “A Christmas Story,” and his son were killed Wednesday in a head-on crash with an alleged drunken driver on Pacific Coast Highway, the filmmaker’s assistant and police said.
Clark, 67, and son Ariel Hanrath-Clark, 22, were killed in the accident in Pacific Palisades, said Lyne Leavy, Clark’s personal assistant .
The two men were in an Infiniti that collided head-on with a GMC Yukon around 2:30 a.m., said Lt. Paul Vernon, a police spokesman.
The driver of the other vehicle, Hector Velazquez-Nava, 24, of Los Angeles and his passenger, described as a 29-year-old woman, were taken to UCLA Medical Center with minor injuries.
The driver remained hospitalized and will be booked for investigation of “gross vehicular manslaughter” after being treated, Vernon said.
“The initial investigation has concluded that Nava was driving without a license northbound in the southbound lanes while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage,” Vernon said.

MacDonald's "team" came up with a reply book - Fatal Justice.
People were and still are divided on whether or not he did it.
I side with the court and the people who think - KNOW - MacDonald killed his wife and two little children and his unborn child too. AGain -= back then in 1970 - such a crime was totally horrendous and unheard of. Today it would just be another one of many many we hear about every day of the week.
I wonder if the drunk driver is an illegal. This is so sad, I love that movie. Great work by the entire cast & crew.
If memory serves, MacDonald did not get the death penalty - for the first degree murder of his littlest child - the other two were 2nd degree murder - because the death penalty at that time was not in force. At the time of his conviction, 9 years after the crime. (By the way - the first court who heard the evidence - the military court - found there was not enough evidence to court martial MacDonald. But, through outstanding persistence by the grandfather of those kids, the father of Collette, and by excellent investigative work and attorney work - MacDonald was convicted and has not been freed on parole after many attempts. Oh, MacDonald sued and won a lawsuit for $350,000 against Collette’s father I think - or his attorney. But they counter sued for wrongful death and won most or all of that amount back!!!
Hey! Thank you so much.....as I said last night, JM is a monster. I’ve followed his case off and on for years. Amazing that he actually has defenders....sick, sick people.
Hey - I forgot to ping you to the info I posted about the Jeffrey MacDonald case - was discussed - as this one is being disccused - (the appeals for parole - not the original case) - here on FR-——see my post 18729 for more links to interesting FR threads about MacDonald’s parole denial and FReeper who is still interested in that case!
God bless the people who are still doing what it takes to see to it that MacDonald never gets out of jail - despite the cries of innocence from JM and his coterie of deceived followers.
Thanks for this ping too...this article really surprised me....could it possibly be that here we have a Bahamian legal official who is pushing to improve the court system there??? and Stern has employed him? Even if he is the newphew of the Judge.....could we possibly see non-corrupted behavior here??? Could he even influence the Judge in the inquest case to not be swayed by family ties or other government corruption? I hope so.
What kind of name is “Broncha”? Her parents must not have liked her very much....lol
Your mentioning the blow-up doll reminded me of an article “Christmas with Louise”. Did you ever read it? I thought it was hilarious, and if you haven’t read it, I’ll post it.
Okay. Then I would like to know how Stern is paying for this stable of attorneys?????? How many does he have now?
They don't work for free.
Stern told Judge Seidlin he hadn't gotten any money at all - and Anna was claiming bankruptcy and inability to pay for the Horizons house (or unwillingness to) - Stern shouldn't have access to her money anyway - so where is he getting the money to pay all these attorneys?
That statement from ETOnline should have this qualifier added:
according to Cyril Wecht's autopsy - the Medical Examiner hired by Anna Nicole and Howard Stern."
Then the full information about Wecht's criminal past should be given - report and let the people decide.
He can do ALL of these things and claim it is on behalf of ANS and it can get paid out of her estate.
Did you hear that idiot woman on TV today saying that there is a difference between the way Stern treated Anna (feeding her drugs) and the way he treats HIS child.
***
Maybe I can try to explain where she’s coming from:
(at least in California), the Court’s view is, what happened between the two parents is immaterial; that is, their inability to get along, or how badly they treated each other, or how many knock-down,drag-out fights they had, or how many times they cheated on each other, has no bearing on custody, unless there are prior criminal proceedings or ‘officer of the court’ (CPS) documentation that the Court can consider when determining custody (and so far, we have no criminal proceedings going on, and we have no CPS documentation and we have no DNA results).
The Court’s view is that it’s a violation of the***civil rights*** of the child, to be denied access to their legal(presumed) parent. Until abuse is proved to the Court (not rumor, not emotion, not hunches or suspicion), the Court itself, would be violating the Civil Rights of the child by arbitrarily removing the child without Due Process.
so the lady was technically correct, it doesn’t matter (right now) how Stern treated Anna.
The Courts simply cannot act without proof and without Due Process which, in most ‘real world’ cases, is a Good Thing!
Hughes Aircraft.
No background info on Howard anywhere during certain times of his life.
Perhaps there were covert things in the life of the Sterns.
Opris interview on CNN Headline....WOW.. .very interesting interview....
hiya Irish !
sure was...made me sit up and wait for the rerun just in case I thought I was dreaming it.
I admire Opri and that bill sure didn’t pass my ‘smell test’.
DD hates Opri and I CANT STAND DD.
**
this was the first time I’ve seen DD, seems she’s trying to hard to emulate NG but without the panache’
SOMEPLACE, I think there’s a girl that is too scared to say he was weird.
I’m old. I was a teen during the ‘50’s. I have my outfit already chosen. I shall wear my poodle skirt, a jazzy Jantzen sweater, rolled down angora socks and my black and white saddle shoes. I’m certain that I shall stand out in the crowd. That is my purpose. (although I fear that my double chin, grey hair, saggy boobs and choice of clothing, may give my age away.)
Season be damned. My chosen outfit is eternal.....and fits all seasons.
Am watching NG right now - does she eventually get to the non-events in the ANS saga from today? So far it's all about Phil Spector - new evidence in his murder case.....oh my now a commercial with the song, "In the arms of an angel....." = all about rescuing animals - but it makes me cry for Daniel, even for Anna, and especially for that precious baby - God please send your angels to keep guard over that little baby.
