Justices of the Supreme Court, Registrars and Magistrates are appointed by The Governor-General acting on the advice of the Judicial and Legal Services Commission. The Judicial and Legal Services Commission comprises five persons with the Chief Justice as Chairman.
The Chief Justice and the Justices of the Court of Appeal are appointed by the Governor-General on the recommendation of the Prime Minister after consultation with the Leader of the Opposition.
Once appointed, the salaries and other terms of appointment of the Chief Justice, Justices of Appeal and Justices of the Supreme Court cannot be altered to their disadvantage. Justices of the Supreme Court can serve until he or she attains the age of sixty-five (65) years and where agreed may serve until the age of sixty-seven (67). Justices of Appeal can serve until he or she attains the age of sixty-eight (68) years and where agreed may serve until the age of seventy (70) years.
IMHO, no honest person (only those bribed or blackmailed) would cave to HKS's outlandish demands. And making a deal with him is like making a deal with the Devil.

Howard is going to great lengths to kill the inquest, because their are witnesses that can potentially damage his credibility. People that he cannot control or buy off. Perhaps he never handed them a confidentiality agreement yet, to keep them silent.
He knows if the truth comes out about his character, then he will not have a snow ball chance in hell of keeping Dannielynn.
The inquest was canceled a while back, and Stern thought it was a done deal.
HK$ has enough of ANS' money (in a bank somewhere) to hire the President of the Bar (Bahamas) Wayne Munroe, as his attorney.
Munroe is supposed to be well respected and brilliant. He has done his job in asking to waive a jury hearing in view of the growing anti-HK$ bias in Nassau. As you point out, this is not a murder trial where the defense and prosecution can voire dire and eliminate hostile jurors.
Munroe has succeeded in highlighting just how vulnerable HK$ is to charges of murder/manslaughter in Daniel's death.
IMO he should have downplayed the inquest, learned what evidence is out there and waited for the result.
The fact that he is fighting so hard so early, tells me he knows his client is in trouble.

Maybe I am an optimist, but I simply cannot imagine him winning in the paternity case. That would cause too big a scandal and would be overruled in this country (seems California had ordered a paternity suit). The Bahamas would have too much to lose if the US will show some backbone.

Little girl had told her mother he was abusing her and this was the first time he'd been allowed unsupervised visitation... I just wish courts would start putting kids first.
