Howard is going to great lengths to kill the inquest, because their are witnesses that can potentially damage his credibility. People that he cannot control or buy off. Perhaps he never handed them a confidentiality agreement yet, to keep them silent.

He knows if the truth comes out about his character, then he will not have a snow ball chance in hell of keeping Dannielynn.

The inquest was canceled a while back, and Stern thought it was a done deal.

You are right. What is scary is how much clout he has had so far, including with Perper, considering his involvement in two deaths. Not a safe person to be around.

Maybe I am an optimist, but I simply cannot imagine him winning in the paternity case. That would cause too big a scandal and would be overruled in this country (seems California had ordered a paternity suit). The Bahamas would have too much to lose if the US will show some backbone.
