Thanks, Jane. I was just about to head out the door, and thought I'd take another peak...I just can't wait to see it again. I do think Wilberforce's conversion experience was somewhat underplayed, but that's about my only qualm. The writers and director make choices, etc.
so glad you found it worth your time and money!

Just now have come inside after cutting back my rose bushes, planting 4 new ones, applying mulch, and weeding one flower bed where the monarda is coming in strong. Whew!
Your highly recommended movie and book, plus my gardening, are activities that will keep me from being preoccupied w/the dems' doings...and thus save my sanity...hopefully. (For pleasure reading, I recommend D.W. Buffa's novels....well written, strong characters, intricate and well-developed plots.)
There is NOTHING they will not do or say...but I am fast becoming enurded to their dishonorable antics.

My thoughts on going to South America. Part of me says, "Go! Where do you want to be when you die and what do you want to be doing? Everyone has to die somewhere and while doing something."
But the other part of me says, "Your work with Jason is very precious and important. That kid has been starved for stability and affection. You are providing that. Don't abandon that ministry for some 'glamor'."
Also, if you did die on that trip, the pastor would have to stop his work and drag your carcass somewhere for burial. It is always difficult for the ex-pats to have a co-laborer die on them.
So, the bottom line is, don't go. I'm sorry to say that, and God may really want you to go. The 'no go' is just my best advice.

AN INTERESTING NOTION
During World War II -- the Japanese developed a way to demoralize the American forces. Psychological warfare experts developed a message theyfelt would work. They gave the script to their famous broadcaster "Tokyo Rose" and every day she would broadcast this same message packaged in different ways, hoping it would have a negative impact on American GI's morale.
What was that demoralizing message?
It had three main points:
1. Your President is lying to you.
2. This war is illegal.
3. You cannot win the war.
Does this sound familiar?
It should because Hillary, Harry, John, Teddy, Nancy, and etc. have picked up on the same message and are broadcasting it on CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, etc., to our nation's citizens and our troops? The only difference is that they claim to support our troops before they demoralize them.
Come to think of it, didn't Tokyo Rose tell the troops she was on their side, too?
Isn't this the truth....that is about all you hear on the news these days.
I watched the Tokyo Rose trial on the Discovery Channel night before last and her words still echo in my ear. Many people don't realize that Iva Toguri was an American citizen by birth. I thought she should have been shot before a firing squad, but she literally received a slap on the wrist and was pardoned by Gerald Ford. She died last September after collecting Social Security from the United States for many years.
Probably an irony there, I just can't seem to see it....

Went to see medical oncologist today. Second opinion we got on Tuesday persuaded him do do a course of chemo beginning on Monday.
Please pray that the treatments will not weaken me to the point that they are doing more harm than good.
We continue to praise the Lord for each day of life and breath.
