Never get tired of seeing him.
JT! HI!
My thoughts on going to South America. Part of me says, "Go! Where do you want to be when you die and what do you want to be doing? Everyone has to die somewhere and while doing something."
But the other part of me says, "Your work with Jason is very precious and important. That kid has been starved for stability and affection. You are providing that. Don't abandon that ministry for some 'glamor'."
Also, if you did die on that trip, the pastor would have to stop his work and drag your carcass somewhere for burial. It is always difficult for the ex-pats to have a co-laborer die on them.
So, the bottom line is, don't go. I'm sorry to say that, and God may really want you to go. The 'no go' is just my best advice.
