The Hobbit Hole XXXIII - And the brook that leaps from hill to plain...

Posted on 03/08/2007 2:40:27 PM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!

O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.

O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.

O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!

Good morning.

Progress so far:

The apartment bathroom and bedroom have been emptied and abandoned (though spackling of holes must be done).

The cleaning of the kitchen of the Domus Mobilius must be completed; therefore, the most I will likely do for kitchen stuff at the apartment is box it up.

The apartment living room looks a right mess. It would be a bit disheartening except that I know which pieces I intend to move after work, and how much empty space will be made thereby.

The drop-dead date for completing this project is the 30th. I'm still pretty comfy about getting done early and having time to take last looks at cleaning in the apartment.

I’m debating riding to work for the first time. I’m up early enough, it’s supposed to be a nice day, it’d mean getting there nice and awake...but I’ve never ridden during weekday traffic.

Mmmm Chicken!

Good morning Hobbit Hole! We had such a busy weekend, I’m glad it’s Monday so we can rest a bit!

Good morning...

What have you been up to that you’re so busy?

We’re going on a trail ride this afternoon, we think! That’s the goal anyhow. Need some coffee

It’s another day where they’re *claiming* we’ll have sun, but it isn’t in evidence.

I chickened out on riding.

Hope you guys get to go! It’s been a little while since you last made it out, no?

And hopefully ecurbh will hear back on that job today, too.

Yeah - it’s starting out a little cool. I wish it would rain, honestly, if it’s going to be cool anyway :~)

I’d rather ride when it’s cool... there will be plenty of hot days later.

Yes, we do hope ecurbh hears about the job! Of course... now he’s going to hopefully by starting a new job, and his parents are coming in a few weeks for a whole week. He may be able to swing a few days off unpaid as a pre-planned commitment, but it’s a complication that will need to be worked out.

We need to start the ‘deep’ cleaning for company soon. Maybe tomorrow :~)

Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow...

I wish it’d warm up just a tiny bit. Not like two weeks ago...but starting out the day in the upper fifties / lower sixties and ending in the low seventies would be nice. I’ve actually had to have the heat on a bit again. This place is too big and too drafty for it to be comfortable in the early mornings when it’s in the high forties or low fifties.

Yeah - it’s been chilly in the mornings... We haven’t given in and turned the heat on yet, but we are in sweaters.

Are you guys keeping all of yours, or are you selling some of the meat?

I think I need another dog or two to help bring up the temperature.

Or I could just deal with the electric bill. That’s probably simpler...
