AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 2217) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | February 16, 2007 | All of Us

Posted on 02/16/2007 5:33:38 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

As we settle into the nighttime of despair, fret not, for the Sun will rise again!!

Good morning!!

We, here, will never forget those who died on September 11, 2001, as we seek to protect the Republic from all who will do her harm!!

It's official.

Global warming has decided to shut itself in the closet because it is too cold outside.

While we're at it, let's talk about global warming a bit shall we? We'll call this segment Inconvenient Facts.

Global Warming Assertion Number 1 - The amount of carbon dioxide in the air is increasing and this, in turn, is warming the planet.

Inconvenient Fact 1 - Yes, carbon dioxide levels are increasing. They are up some 40 or so percent above levels many decades ago. With that, it seems someone remembered high school earth science and the greenhouse effect--carbon dioxide in the atmosphere heats the planet by trapping radiant heat, much as glass in a house does. True enough. But one important fact is missing in each and every discussion. The amount of trapping is not linear. Or at least it's not linear at the levels in the atmosphere, which must be measured in parts per billion. If that were true, we'd all be toast as ambient temperatures would be 40 percent higher than a century ago--instead of 290K, it would be running somewhere around 410K--and that is above the boiling point of water (373K). There's also another point left out--at what point does it matter? It is agreed there would be a level that would be a problem, but what is that level? No one seems to be able to tell us--probably because where not there.

Global Warming Assertion 2 - The increase in carbon dioxide, warming the planet, has led to an increase in ocean temperatures.

Inconvenient Fact 2 - Yes, the oceans are warming in a general trend over the last few decades. It isn't due, however, to carbon dioxide from above, there's simply not enough heat energy radiating on the planet to change the temperatures of the ocean that quickly--water is, essentially, a heat sink as it takes a tremendous amount of energy to actually heat it. No, the heat is coming from below. Increased volcanic activity along the mid-Atlantic ridge and in hot spots across the middle of the Pacific are heating the ocean from below (akin to boiling water on the stove). Vents with temperatures of 700K (for the scientifically uninclined, subtract about 270--273.15 actually--from the K value to achieve the C temperature) have been located in these places in increasing numbers the last couple of years. Now, gasses tend not to stay in solution when water heats up, and there is a significant amount of carbon dioxide available in the oceans as dissolved gas. When the water heats, out comes the carbon dioxide into, yep, the atmosphere, increasing the percentage of the gas in that location. So--how much is natural and how much is caused by mankind?

Global Warming Assertion 3 - The increased temperatures are melting the Arctic Ocean ice pack.

Inconvenient Fact 3 - Well, sort of. Along the northern Canadian coastline, yes, the ice is retreating and Arctic Ocean water is present. Scientists, however, have found volcanic activity along the ridge near the coast there (it's an extension of the mid-Atlantic ridge) in increasing levels over the last decade. There's that 700K water again. Of course the ice melts.

Global Warming Assertion 4 - There are less glaciers and the current glaciers are all retreating.

Inconvenient Fact 4 - There are not less glaciers, there are more. Fully 70% of the existing glaciers in the world are growing. The Antarctic ice pack is increasing in thickness, causing more calving of icebergs. See iceagenow.com for more on this.

Global warming Assertion 5 - Global warming is actually responsible for increased snowfall in the northeast and mid-Atlantic regions.

Inconvenient Fact 5 - Well, that's been beat up enough here. Even lake effect snows require cold air, the colder the more snow.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

But it would be very frightening to suddenly have that much money, I think.

I, too, would establish a foundation (the Isadore and Maria Foundation) to get 'average' kids educated, or at least trained in a Community College.

Isadore and Maria are the patron saints of farmers and farmwives respectively.

I've given this a lot of thought, and may form a foundation whether I win the Lottery or not.

How interesting! I always wanted to establish the Bobby Tomato agricultural scholarships in honor of my dad (who grew tomatoes and a lot of people gave him that as a nickname).

I also want to help kids get started in something they love, whether college, trade school, starting a business, whatever. So many of them seem lost these days, and it seems such a waste that these kids end up working part-time at malls and never really get a chance.

I also would like to get kids really interested in politics...not to run for office but just to understand the significance of what's happening.

And of course I would have a St. Fiacre Gardening Foundation!

The Men's house, the Woman's house.

6. Who are the two senators from our state?

Senator Beavis. Senator Butthead.

7. Who is our Representative in Congress?

Who's this Mr. Gress and why is he trying to con me?

8. Who is the governor of our state?

Govern, or what? Make up your mind.

9. Is tobacco illegal?

Then send him back to his country of origin.

10. Are you able to walk and chew gum at the same time?

That would get in the way of beer drinking.

I agree with you completely. Its sad to see the Republicans in congress completely fold. They do not realize that every statement that they make emboldens the enemy that threatens my life, and the lives of those with me. They cannot see past the griping of the left wing to see the future of America.

Good night all. I'm going to get some sleep in preparation for tomorrows duties.

Oh my! One of the very, very good guys!! Unfortunately, Jemian, voting R is no guarantee these days. Too many Rs are taking the easy route and voting with the House Dems this afternoon.

There's an online effort promoted by Hugh Hewitt and others to recruit candidates who support victory to challenge these weak, faint-hearted Rs in the next primary they face.

Just listened to Duncan Hunter on the House floor, and before that sKerry blathering in the Senate. My husband, home today and listening to the debates, hooted when sKerry referred to himself as "once a troop"!! What???!! The man's truly an idiot.

Thanks for your service, and the link, IG. Maybe I missed it, but it seemed like you were planning on retiring fairly soon, but not quite next year? Events overcame some of your thoughts on the matter, and they're certainly not desirable developments there in the General Assembly.

But you have many, many interests and family to keep you going for years yet!

Is this a trick question??

Actually, the answer is "18", but Democrats never grow up, so they never get there.

HA! They sure do never grow up, but they also manage to often vote in "extra" numbers...that's what I'm thinking....

Congratulations on your upcoming retirement from the rough and tumble world of politics, Iowa Granny. I admire what you've done for so long and you've been a blessing to all of us as we've read with interest about what the "real" politicians face in their everyday struggles to be heard and represent their constituency.

I'm back from the hair dresser and starting to panic that I haven't gotten much done on my to-do list today for our party tomorrow night.

It is time to force myself to start checking things off that list and get cranking so I'll just wish you a good day and will check in later to see what other trouble the Democrats have gotten into.

I got to see Sam Johnson!! Bless his heroic heart! He let the Defeatists have it, and when he was done, he got a long round of standing applause from one side of the House!

I am soooooo glad I got to see him!!

Take a deep breath, Peach. You've done lots, and it'll be worth it. Understand your anxiety completely.
