AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 2217) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | February 16, 2007 | All of Us

Posted on 02/16/2007 5:33:38 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

As we settle into the nighttime of despair, fret not, for the Sun will rise again!!

Good morning!!

We, here, will never forget those who died on September 11, 2001, as we seek to protect the Republic from all who will do her harm!!

It's official.

Global warming has decided to shut itself in the closet because it is too cold outside.

While we're at it, let's talk about global warming a bit shall we? We'll call this segment Inconvenient Facts.

Global Warming Assertion Number 1 - The amount of carbon dioxide in the air is increasing and this, in turn, is warming the planet.

Inconvenient Fact 1 - Yes, carbon dioxide levels are increasing. They are up some 40 or so percent above levels many decades ago. With that, it seems someone remembered high school earth science and the greenhouse effect--carbon dioxide in the atmosphere heats the planet by trapping radiant heat, much as glass in a house does. True enough. But one important fact is missing in each and every discussion. The amount of trapping is not linear. Or at least it's not linear at the levels in the atmosphere, which must be measured in parts per billion. If that were true, we'd all be toast as ambient temperatures would be 40 percent higher than a century ago--instead of 290K, it would be running somewhere around 410K--and that is above the boiling point of water (373K). There's also another point left out--at what point does it matter? It is agreed there would be a level that would be a problem, but what is that level? No one seems to be able to tell us--probably because where not there.

Global Warming Assertion 2 - The increase in carbon dioxide, warming the planet, has led to an increase in ocean temperatures.

Inconvenient Fact 2 - Yes, the oceans are warming in a general trend over the last few decades. It isn't due, however, to carbon dioxide from above, there's simply not enough heat energy radiating on the planet to change the temperatures of the ocean that quickly--water is, essentially, a heat sink as it takes a tremendous amount of energy to actually heat it. No, the heat is coming from below. Increased volcanic activity along the mid-Atlantic ridge and in hot spots across the middle of the Pacific are heating the ocean from below (akin to boiling water on the stove). Vents with temperatures of 700K (for the scientifically uninclined, subtract about 270--273.15 actually--from the K value to achieve the C temperature) have been located in these places in increasing numbers the last couple of years. Now, gasses tend not to stay in solution when water heats up, and there is a significant amount of carbon dioxide available in the oceans as dissolved gas. When the water heats, out comes the carbon dioxide into, yep, the atmosphere, increasing the percentage of the gas in that location. So--how much is natural and how much is caused by mankind?

Global Warming Assertion 3 - The increased temperatures are melting the Arctic Ocean ice pack.

Inconvenient Fact 3 - Well, sort of. Along the northern Canadian coastline, yes, the ice is retreating and Arctic Ocean water is present. Scientists, however, have found volcanic activity along the ridge near the coast there (it's an extension of the mid-Atlantic ridge) in increasing levels over the last decade. There's that 700K water again. Of course the ice melts.

Global Warming Assertion 4 - There are less glaciers and the current glaciers are all retreating.

Inconvenient Fact 4 - There are not less glaciers, there are more. Fully 70% of the existing glaciers in the world are growing. The Antarctic ice pack is increasing in thickness, causing more calving of icebergs. See iceagenow.com for more on this.

Global warming Assertion 5 - Global warming is actually responsible for increased snowfall in the northeast and mid-Atlantic regions.

Inconvenient Fact 5 - Well, that's been beat up enough here. Even lake effect snows require cold air, the colder the more snow.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Due to circumstances I have to check in and out on a rather irregular basis. I must have missed something. What happened to Mom?

DIARY OF A SNOW SHOVELER in BUFFALO CENTRAL, NY

December 8:

6:00 PM. It started to snow. The first snow of the season and the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window, watching the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses Print. So romantic we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow!

December 9:

We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a more lovely place in the Whole World? Moving here was the best idea I've ever had. Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a boy again. I did both our driveway and the sidewalks. This afternoon the snow plow came along and covered up the sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got to shovel again. What a perfect life!

December 12:

The sun has melted all our lovely snow. Such a disappointment. My neighbor tells me not to worry, we'll d definitely have a white Christmas. No snow on Christmas would be awful! Bob says we'll have so much snow by the end of winter, that I'll never want to see snow again. I don't think that's possible. Bob is such a nice man. I'm glad he's our neighbor.

December 14:

Snow, lovely snow! 8" last night. The temperature dropped to *20. The cold makes everything sparkle so. The wind took my breath away, but I warmed up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. This is the life! The snowplow came back this afternoon and buried everything again. I didn't realize I would have to do quite this much shoveling, but I'll certainly get back in shape this way. I wish I wouldn't huff and puff so.

December 15:

20 inches forecast. Sold my van and bought a 4x4 Blazer. Bought snow tires for the wife's car and 2 extra shovels. Stocked the freezer. The wife wants a wood stove in case the electricity goes out. I think that's silly. We aren't in Alaska, after all.

December 16:

Ice storm this morning. Fell on my butt on the ice in the driveway putting down salt. Hurt like h*ll. The wife laughed for an hour, which I think was very cruel.

December 17:

Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go anywhere. Electricity was off for 5 hours. I had to pile the blankets on to stay warm. Nothing to do but stare at the wife and try not to irritate her. Guess I should've bought a wood stove, but won't admit it to her. God I hate it when she's right. I can't believe I'm freezing to death in my own living room.

December 20:

Electricity's back on, but had another 14" of the d*mn stuff last night. More shoveling. Took all day. freakin' snowplow came by twice. Tried to find a neighbor kid to shovel, but they said they're too busy playing hockey. I think they're lying. Called the only hardware store around to see about buying a snow blower and they're out. Might have another shipment in March. I think they're lying. Bob says I have to shovel or the city will have it done and bill me. I think he's lying.

December 22:

Bob was right about a white Christmas because 13 more inches of the white stuff fell today, and it's so cold it probably won't melt till August. Took me 45 minutes to get all dressed up to go out to shovel and then I had to p**. By the time I got undressed, p**ed and dressed again. I was too tired to shovel. Tried to hire Bob who has a plow on his truck for the rest of the winter; but he says he's too busy. I think he is lying.

December 23:

Only 2" of snow today. And it warmed up to 0. The wife wanted me to decorate the front of the house this morning. What is she...nuts??? Why didn't she tell me to do that a month ago? She says she did but I think she's lying.

December 24:

6". Snow packed so hard by snowplow, I broke the shovel. Thought I was having a heart attack. If I ever catch the son of a gun who drives that snowplow, I'll drag him through the snow by his $#$%^. I know he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then he comes down the street at a 100 miles an hour and throws snow all over where I've just been! Tonight the wife wanted me to sing Christmas carols with her and open our presents, but I was busy watching for the freakin' snowplow.

December 25:

Merry Christmas. 20 more inches of the @#$%^& slop tonight. Snowed in. The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. God I hate the snow! Then the snowplow driver came by asking for a donation and I hit him over the head with my shovel. The wife says I have a bad attitude. I think she's an idiot. If I have to watch "It's a Wonderful Life" one more time, I'm going to kill her.

December 26:

Still snowed in. Why the hell did I ever move here? It was all HER idea. She's really getting on my nerves.

December 27:

Temperature dropped to -10 and the pipes froze.

December 28:

Warmed up to above -5. Still snowed in. THE WOMAN is driving me crazy!!!

December 29:

10 more inches. Bob says I have to shovel the roof or it could cave-in. That's the silliest thing I ever heard. How dumb does he think I am?

December 30:

Roof caved in. The snow plow driver is suing me for a million dollars for the bump on his head. The wife went home to her mother. 9" predicted.

December 31:

Set fire to what's left of the house. No more shoveling!

January 8:

I feel so good. I just love those little white pills they keep giving me. Why am I tied to the bed?

Today, nearly a week after my official announcement to the general public, I'm posting a link to the announcement about my retirement, ending 16 years in the Iowa General Assembly.

http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=17842192&BRD=1142&PAG=461&dept_id=568956&rfi=6

MANY Thanks to all of those who have protected my identiy for lo these many years.

WHY am I going public now? Because I want to tell you about the dramatic changes when a General Assembly goes from quasi Conservative Control to Liberal Control.

The Iowa Senate, this week, passed a resolution opposing the War on Terror. The resolution is headed for the House. Next week, I will have an opportunity to speak against it.

There's more. But that's enough for now.

GOOD 'COLD' A.M. HONORABLE CHAIR, ALL FROM THE VERY COLD MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST, USA, BRUISED BUT NOT BROKEN (OR FROZEN FOR NOT)!!!!

Hang in their ben Lauden, help is on the way via the 'dimwitts' in Washington, DC, you should feel proud that you influence such a body in the House in the USA.

It is COLD, the phone lines are frozen (hard to get in this A.M.) walk outside and talk you have to Carry a bucket to catch the words and let them thaw in the warm house to know what you said...in the 20s tbis morning and our well froze, SIL got it thawed with an electric heater and a tarp over the pump. Well, maybe not as bad as I am saying but just give the the pleasure of 'padding' my situation done here.

I understand the judge in charge where the body of Smith will be buried is a retired cab driver from New York and now the question, will the attorneys appeal? It is a good chance that she will beat all records of 'hanging around.

We have a saying down here that when a person is sick there are several degree's of the sickness, real sick is 'low sick', medium sick is just sick, kinda sick is 'feeling bad'. D is low sick this morning and I am having to help with Jason, a hand-full for a fact but I will prevail (I hope). I do need to run into town but that might have to wait.

We need email address of troops in Iraq so we can email them of our support. I think they need this kind of encouragement being what the dims are doing to them.

OK, time to get the firewood in the house, stoke the fire, eat a little eggs, let D just take it easy.

Here is wishing all to have a good day or, the kind of day you want.

I just caught on the news that there's a lot of protesting going on about Toyota being in NASCAR this year. Dale Jarrett, one of my favorites, made it a point that TOYOTA is 100% made in America, owned by Americans.

Announcer then said that Ford is racing the "Fusion" which is made 100% in MEXICO!

I was raised in Indy and they had the same flap when the English started driving there, especially with a rear-engine car! Blasphemy!!

Thank you for your dedicated service all these many years. We need more voices like yours, and am saddened by your retirement. 'Tis a phase the Nation is going through, I think, but I believe there will be an awakening. I pray it is not one where we get a hangover, but alas, our Nation's history is replete with such things.

The "other side," unfortunately, is not simply being the "loyal opposition," they're being the "total opposition". There was an excellent essay not all that long ago. In the piece, the author remarked how the liberals were prepared to lose the war in Vietnam all for the sake of advancing their agenda--for which they were successful. The piece then fast forwards to now positing the opinion the liberals are still prepared to lose the war in Iraq, if it means advancing their agenda (and, what the heck, if Republicans can get tarred on this for (1) starting the war and (2) losing it, then the sting of (a) starting Vietnam and (b) losing it, on the part of "the other party"--all the better).

I still believe Impeachment is on their agenda. They appear poised (read today's Washington Pravda) to set up all kinds of trip wires for the Iraqi conflict--who knows where that'll go.

Anyway, you still have a forum here, and heck, in a way you've released yourself to be even more a nuisance and pain in the south ends of the Communists (er, liberals) and their plans.
