AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 2217) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | February 16, 2007 | All of Us

Posted on 02/16/2007 5:33:38 AM PST by Chairman_December_19th_Society

As we settle into the nighttime of despair, fret not, for the Sun will rise again!!

Good morning!!

We, here, will never forget those who died on September 11, 2001, as we seek to protect the Republic from all who will do her harm!!

It's official.

Global warming has decided to shut itself in the closet because it is too cold outside.

While we're at it, let's talk about global warming a bit shall we? We'll call this segment Inconvenient Facts.

Global Warming Assertion Number 1 - The amount of carbon dioxide in the air is increasing and this, in turn, is warming the planet.

Inconvenient Fact 1 - Yes, carbon dioxide levels are increasing. They are up some 40 or so percent above levels many decades ago. With that, it seems someone remembered high school earth science and the greenhouse effect--carbon dioxide in the atmosphere heats the planet by trapping radiant heat, much as glass in a house does. True enough. But one important fact is missing in each and every discussion. The amount of trapping is not linear. Or at least it's not linear at the levels in the atmosphere, which must be measured in parts per billion. If that were true, we'd all be toast as ambient temperatures would be 40 percent higher than a century ago--instead of 290K, it would be running somewhere around 410K--and that is above the boiling point of water (373K). There's also another point left out--at what point does it matter? It is agreed there would be a level that would be a problem, but what is that level? No one seems to be able to tell us--probably because where not there.

Global Warming Assertion 2 - The increase in carbon dioxide, warming the planet, has led to an increase in ocean temperatures.

Inconvenient Fact 2 - Yes, the oceans are warming in a general trend over the last few decades. It isn't due, however, to carbon dioxide from above, there's simply not enough heat energy radiating on the planet to change the temperatures of the ocean that quickly--water is, essentially, a heat sink as it takes a tremendous amount of energy to actually heat it. No, the heat is coming from below. Increased volcanic activity along the mid-Atlantic ridge and in hot spots across the middle of the Pacific are heating the ocean from below (akin to boiling water on the stove). Vents with temperatures of 700K (for the scientifically uninclined, subtract about 270--273.15 actually--from the K value to achieve the C temperature) have been located in these places in increasing numbers the last couple of years. Now, gasses tend not to stay in solution when water heats up, and there is a significant amount of carbon dioxide available in the oceans as dissolved gas. When the water heats, out comes the carbon dioxide into, yep, the atmosphere, increasing the percentage of the gas in that location. So--how much is natural and how much is caused by mankind?

Global Warming Assertion 3 - The increased temperatures are melting the Arctic Ocean ice pack.

Inconvenient Fact 3 - Well, sort of. Along the northern Canadian coastline, yes, the ice is retreating and Arctic Ocean water is present. Scientists, however, have found volcanic activity along the ridge near the coast there (it's an extension of the mid-Atlantic ridge) in increasing levels over the last decade. There's that 700K water again. Of course the ice melts.

Global Warming Assertion 4 - There are less glaciers and the current glaciers are all retreating.

Inconvenient Fact 4 - There are not less glaciers, there are more. Fully 70% of the existing glaciers in the world are growing. The Antarctic ice pack is increasing in thickness, causing more calving of icebergs. See iceagenow.com for more on this.

Global warming Assertion 5 - Global warming is actually responsible for increased snowfall in the northeast and mid-Atlantic regions.

Inconvenient Fact 5 - Well, that's been beat up enough here. Even lake effect snows require cold air, the colder the more snow.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Nice article Iowa & we are all here very proud of you & do understand your frustrations. If you can make a difference, then it is great...but if you are just batting your head against an iron wall of ignorance & frustration it IS NOT WORTH SHORTENING YOUR LIFE & WASTING YOUR DAYS.

you have a home to build, travel to do & delightful grandkids to spoil rotten

You have put up with more than your share of wasted time & energy.

Now, I DO HAVE TO ASK.. we all know we are ready for a woman president (except thunder thighs)...

could
it
be

IOWA GRANNY 2008 for President

Good morning, Chair.

I think you should give Congressional Republicans a briefing because otherwise I fear they will do what they do all too frequently and that is give in to the majority view among the uneducated masses.

I for one would have a spending fling at first, but there is no way it could amount to more than a couple 100 Gs and I'm includiing pond digging and an additional garage. I'd be happy with that.

Now , Greg and Sarah?? That's another story.

Thanks for all the comments on the way I look. I was somewhat less concerned with what I looked like as to whether there were enimies in the building I was looking at. It was a building that has been know for containing hostiles. That was actually just this morning.

I think if I had that money I would toss a coin to either do all the deferred maintenance on this home or bulldoze it (my brother's recommendation) -

Trust funds for Grandkids...college education for grandkids..travel... a car that is younger /better than my 12 year old 150K milers!

I have oodles of clothes, shoes & jewelry..need NO MORE

a massage & facial couple times a week.

big chunks to church, salvation army, boy scouts, girl scouts & the upcoming candidates that I support

Yes, I forgot. A new vehicle. Our Jeep is a '94 with over 150,000. Sarah's car died a few months ago. We will wait until spring to see if it's worth fixing. That has been a great little car. She bought it for $2300.00..put another 80,000 on it and invested in new tires and oil changes...not much more. I hate to see it go.

The news is starting to depress me. The Dems are showing that they are so very stupid, and their constant anti-war yarping is growing tiresome, so I'm going to check out and go work out. I just pray that congress will grow a pair and stand up for our President.

Today we will have the dems cast a vote which will empower the enemy in Iraq. That is not all, we will have the gutless, weak knead, turncoat so called Republicans joining them. What in the heck do they think they are doing anyhow, satisfying the people in their districts with this vote or is it their own personal feelings. I sickens me to see pubs turn into Republacracts which they are doing.

I know, I know, I am not in their district but their vote effects me just the same, shameful, shameful.

I am glad you are going public. I know how disheartening it has been for you with the changes in the legislature.

Many thanks for the information you have passed us over the last few years.

My name, address and contact info is listed in dozens of places across the nation. So posting it here is of no signifigance.

I just felt it was time to be upfront about who/what. And I honestly need a place to vent about the hundreds of misdeeds I'm witnessing.

You guys at least understand what I'm talking about.

When I post about my frustrations at my Garden Site (where they know 'who/what'), they have little realization of the consequences, because their interests are focused elsewhere.

I always told my husband that winning that much money can be a curse. First of all, you have to appear in public to claim it so everyone knows you have won it. Then you are subject to harassment, kidnapping threats, scams, etc. It could be quite dangerous.

Secondly, that much money requires a lot of responsibility. You would have to hire advisers and accountants and such in order to use it responsibly.

I always though that I would establish some foundations for helping people with scholarships and such. I would encourage those kids who maybe are from average backgrounds with avaerage grades, and also donate to the Church, the local library (I get to pick the books, not that lefty librarian), schools, etc.

But it would be very frightening to suddenly have that much money, I think.

Yes, we willl be glad to listen and we DO understand the consequences.

I honestly wish that people who are stupid would just stay home and not vote. I advocate a 10-point quiz that must be answered correctly. Here is my screening quiz for voting:

1. What is the capital of our nation?

2. What is the capital of our state?

3. Who is the Vice President of the United States?

4. What political party controls Congress?

5. Name the two houses of Congress.

6. Who are the two senators from our state?

7. Who is our Representative in Congress?

8. Who is the governor of our state?

9. Is tobacco illegal?

10. Are you able to walk and chew gum at the same time?

I honestly have run into adults who cannot answer many of these questions. They hold down jobs and vote....why, I don't know. Maybe because they are given time off from work. Their votes count as much as mine, and I don't like that, believe you me!
