I gotta agree with you. What in the world was Marty thinking when he challenged that interception and fumble? He had no chance to win and was simply giving away a timeout which he really could have used at the end.
And it seemed like every single bone-headed play in this game was by a Charger and that ultimately goes back to the coach.
The Chargers took that game, wrapped it in nice paper, and handed it to the Patriots on a silver platter.
Give the Chargers defense credit. They played welll....just not in the end.
I thought about you after that play. You called it.
SD really blew this game...those idiotic penaties really did them in and lets be honest, the Pats got a few lucky breaks late to STEAL this game.
I said ALL WEEK if the Pats just hang around until the 4th quarter I liked their chances.
He was criticized in Washington for being "Challenged Impaired".
Also- Marty Schottenheimer Record in Playoffs: 5-13
Congrats to the Pats, and looking forward to a great battle of the QB's in Indy...
Every single Patriot fan needs to send Troy Brown $100.
The Chargers were simply exposed for the frauds that they were all season. They're clearly not ready for prime time, and have the worst coach in NFL history. And LT showed himself to be the game's most overrated player and a complete jerk, too, the way he went after those New England players at the end of the game. What a sore loser. Hopefully that will dispel the notion that LT is some kind of good guy.
So is CBS.
Have to agree with everything you said there.
Tom Brady now 12-1 in the playoffs. He was damn lucky to get this game but considering how great he played in most of the others, he deserves to get a mulligan.
From what I understand, the Chargers GM doesn't like Marty, and intended to grab the first excuse he could to get rid of him.
That's what good teams do. The Patriots are the greatest team in the history of the NFL. They make breaks.
The penalties were fatal. And the silly challenge on the last fumble....but, those dumba$$ thuggish penalties were so unnecessary! SD was winning. No need to blow it that way.
I think the key play was the lack of situational awareness by the SD defender on the 4th down pass which was intercepted and then fumbled. If he was playing smart, he would have knocked down the pass and the Chargers would have gotten the ball on downs back around the 50 yd line. Stupid, stupid play.
Never give a great QB a chance to beat you.
Agree completely. That decision left them with not enough time to get closer.
AND I hit the under!
