Report: Man Orders Dog To Attack Cops
CBS News ^ | 01/11/07

Posted on 01/11/2007 11:23:32 AM PST by presidio9

A Long Island man has been arrested for allegedly ordering his dog to attack three police officers who arrived at his house after getting a call about a domestic dispute.

A woman in Holtsville reportedly called police to say that a dispute with her live-in boyfriend, Dwight Jackson, had turned physical.

When the three police officers arrived at the scene, Jackson allegedly told his dog to attack them. Two of the officers fired their weapons at the dog. One of the officers was treated for a leg injury.

Jackson was charged with assault and harassment and is scheduled to be arraigned today in Central Islip. The dog's injuries were not immediately known. It was taken to the Selden Emergency Animal Hospital.

He shouldn't have bothered, they'd have shot the dog anyway.

Dollars to donuts it was a bullet injury.

On top of the resisting arrest and assaulting an officer charges, this guy also needs to get hit with animal cruelty.

The dog should have forced the cops to improvise a rap lyric or two too. /sarc

So it's not animal cruelty to order your dog to attack armed police officers?

No. Not even close.

It's criminal stupid, but it is NOT by any stretch cruelty.

In other words the dog should of known what a gun can do and ignored the command from its master? Have you ever owned a dog?

I would say its criminal and cruelty.

If the dog is trained to attack and the man commanded the dog to attack, wouldn't the dog be considered his weapon?

And its cruel because the dog is just doing what it is told to protect his master. The dog doesn't know that police have guns and will surely shoot it. Its cruel for the man to send the dog in, knowing it will be shot.

Actually the dog was UGA, the Georgia Bulldog, and the the cops uniforms reminded him of Auburn.

How is this any different than throwing a tennis ball off a cliff to see if rover will chase it?
