[Detroit] Lions news is bad news

...With a record of 2-11, the silver-and-Honolulu blue are firmly entrenched at No. 32 on any power poll in this spiral arm of the galaxy. Entrenched, that is, until another loss drops them behind Ohio State, Florida and the Hamburg Sea Devils. Think it can't get worse? Hey, this is the Lions. NFL schedule makers saw fit to arrange the endgame Kitty Cats' so, so long season likewise: at the Green Bay Packers where the Lions haven't won since a guy named Brett Favre took over there (that's right, 1992); against the Chicago Bears in a game which figures to see Motor City backers immortalize the chant "Fire *&#!!%&ing Millen!"; and at the Dallas Cowboys , who on New Year's Eve will probably looking to bag the No. 2 seed in the NFC... Kevin Jones, who was knocked out of the loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, figures to be out for the remainder of the season... Pro Bowl nominee Shaun Rogers... was slapped by the commissioner after testing positive for steroids. The judgment had Rogers forcibly sitting out four games and giving up $250,000. Naturally, "Big Baby" was innocent, protesting that the positive test represented a product that the 354-pound Rogers used to help him control his weight. Or he has asthma. Or he thought they were Shawne Merriman's Pez. Or something... Team officials announced yesterday that WR Mike Williams - you remember him: the former first-round draft pick cum The Most Useless Player in the NFL Today - flunked a weigh-in. At 240 pounds, Williams only missed the target set by Rod Marinelli and Co. by 20. Though no punitive measures have been mentioned, any punishment would seem pointless other then some quality time on the bench... Fire &#!!%&ing Millen.

The NFL and Playahs Assoc reached agreement (and my apologies if I've already mentioned this) to start 17 game seasons,

An odd number of games?!?!?!? So some teams will have more home games than away games, and others vice-versa?

Probably means neutral ground, such as (ta-dah!) London Eng-ul-land. Makes the tiebreakers A) perhaps less necessary and B) probably less complicated.

I wouldn’t mind a Titans-Packers SB, or a Titans-SF SB.

Here's hoping that the Lions don't take Tagovailoa, he's going to be a dry hole. With the trade of Darius Slay, the Lions have telegraphed that theyll use their number three pick on CB Jeff Okudah.
BTW, the YT vids that turn up for NFL draft are mostly dopey bloggers with grandiose theme 'music' that goes on too long. And the music does too.

Bengals could take Justin Herbert instead of Joe Burrow, and it would probably be a good idea. In the longer term, Burrow is one of those decent talents, like Tom Brady, who does the needed homework (again, like Tom Brady). Herbert's strong, and tougher, which is what the Bengals need now. That said, it's unlikely the Bengals will take anyone but Burrow, and if he survives, he should have a good third or fourth NFL season -- but maybe with New England by then.

BTW, I'm tired of Herd, particularly since the YT clips of late is him ranting about the sheer greatness of Tua. I'll guess that Tua will go to the Chargers.

Miami's got the most with 14, New England, Minnesota, and Jacksonville have 12 each, Denver has 11, GB and Giants has 10.

[ https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/how-many-nfl-teams-have-not-won-super-bowl/iyue76akk2x1mtcsekjayzg8 ] Four NFL teams — the Browns , Lions , Jaguars , and Texans — have never appeared in the Super Bowl. The Lions and Browns both won championships prior to the NFL merger in 1966. Jacksonville and Houston have only been around since 1995 and 2002, respectively, and are the league’s two newest expansion teams.

Huh, Kiper has Tua going to the Chargers. Makes the most sense, gives their quality veteran a backup, gives Tua a full season at least to get knitted together and healthy.

I think New England will use their 12 draft picks to nab quality at any position *except* QB, and pick up a QB off free agency if needed -- unless they think could trade a QB draft pick to some team that can't get to the QB they need but have something NE wants.
