Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Silk needs dusting...
Heh.. we caught a "25 worst design mistakes" the other night on HGTV. #1 was "no fake flowers."
I am on a crusade for a minimalist look. I'm losing so far, but my motto is "if it ain't useful, and being used, it's crap and it's out of here."
Nana's a bit concerned. ;-)
That's me. I have very few pictures on the wall because you have to dust them. Steve's diploma, a picture of Jesus, a few others...that's it.
I'm a minimalist, I just don't have enough room for all my stuff ;-)
Seriesly, I like the philosophy a lot and when we have a bigger house plan to go with that. I like Asian decorating ideas... lots of straight lines and balance and empty spaces.
We have a picture of Jesus that Nana brought with her. It's HUGH and not something we would hang. But how do you ~get rid~ of that? It's like 2 1/2 feet tall...
We just have ~stuff~ that we've collected over the years. But I've finally gotten the Mrs. to agree we don't need to keep all of those collections. We'll probably use her stuff from Japan in our bedroom that we hope to paint/redo this spring.
But all the "antique" kitchen ware, the books, stuff from every missions trip we ever took or supported...we just don't have room or need for all of it.
The garage and attic are full. But I've finally gotten the point across that it's just not good stewardship to have all this crap and clutter.
You know, [changing subject] I wish I had cable TV. But I don't want all that stuff that comes with it! I just want my local channels and Fox News.
I've got rabbit ears right now and the reception is iffy sometimes.
You can get just the basic package, and you can block any you don't want the jedis to see. But you do get a lot of other stuff.
It ain't cheap tho.
But, we just got approval for wife's company to cover her Internet Access as expenses. So that's cut our bill in half.
Remind me when I grow up that I never wanted to have kids.
Jr. did ~something~ stupid skateboarding. I'm not sure what, but he's going to get his wrist x-rayed.
I'm just gonna go ahead and throw cash off the bridge on the way home.
~sigh~
Have y'all read Tom Clancy's "Rainbow Six"? It's about some real nasty eco-freaks.
I told SirKit I only wanted a new kitchen for Valentine's Day. Looks like I'm gonna have to wait a bit for the final product. ;o)
Well, designers and florists are probably in cahoots, an obvious conflict of interest.
I'm all for minimalism... Our decor is mostly useful. One wall is decorated in saddles and bridles. :~)
But I've also had good luck washing silk flowers by dunking them in the sink. Good as new.
Build-A-Bear is a company that had stores in malls. Kids, or I guess anyone, could go in there, decide what color fur, eyes, etc they want for their bear, dog, monkey tiger, etc., put it together, then dress it however they want. Clare got a black lab there a few years ago; named it Sirius. ;o)
~drags 2J kicking and screaming into the modern age...~
We got DISH network, and we got the premium package, ONLY because we're wierd and spend most of our TV time watching the Discovery, History and Science channels, and I don't think they were on anything but the most expensive package. Too bad we can't deduct it as an educational expense!
*laying low*
Yikes...
I've repeatedly crossed paths with a woman in town with my same name. She went to my same high school and then later college. So I've had her grades merged with mine a few times from high school and into two different colleges, showing me to have done 'not very well' in nursing, in addition to bouncing checks all over town.
I'm kindof hoping to have cut ties with her with my new married name, but we'll see :~)
Oh ??? Did she do 'not very well' in nursing? :~)
Oh - nevermind... I just found the spoiler... oh dear...
All I can say is that it's a good thing to check those reports regularly. 'specially if it is your state's law that you get a free one annually.
