Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Sing hey! for the bath at close of day
That washes the weary mud away!
A loon is he that will not sing:
O! Water Hot is anoble thing!
O! Sweet is the sound of falling rain.
and the brook that leaps from hill to plain;
but better than rain or rippling streams
is Water Hot that smokes and steams.
O! Water cold we may pour at need
down a thirsty throat and be glad indeed;
but better is Beer, if drink we lack,
and Water Hot poured down the back.
O! Water is fair that leaps on high
in a fountain white beneath the sky;
but never did fountain sound so sweet
as splashing Hot Water with my feet!
Yeah, happy Friday and such.
wait... no...
Don't do that.
It's cruel.
We're the old souls of the Hobbit Hole, I guess. ;-)
We get some of the nicest clothes, that's fer sure.
And men in suits and hats...mmmm...
Yep!
I'd love to go back to the time of wearing hats and gloves to church.
I always hated it that nurses quit wearing their caps to work. I actually more mine occasionally...
We're getting a beautiful snow fall here...
I used to always wear hats to church... haven't lately.... I ought to do it more often. Not this week though, it's going to be very very very cold all weekend and I'll be wearing pants.
Looks like he's going to be on tomorrow morning too. Hmmmmm....has he taken over the morning spot in Chicago?
For my first communion, all the other girls had white dresses, of course...but Mom got me a little white hat and gloves and a blue dress. I don't know what she was thinking - I stood out like a sore thumb, but I thought I looked *marvelous*. We were kind of new to the church at the time, and I suppose the last time she'd really dressed up for church was in the 50s, when she was little. Maybe that explains it?
In any case, despite being different, I loved those gloves...and the hat.
She was thinking you looked *marvelous*
Oh, I bet you looked lovely!! And you *are* very fair...maybe she thought white would be too much? The blue likely looked better on you than all white, maybe?
Do you have a picture? I would love to see it!
I think when I have more expendable income, I may buy me an outfit with gloves and hat and wear it to church, I don't care if it splits the nation.
:-)
The jedis and I are in the midst of an experiment.
We took ice melt and poured it into a knee-high stocking (I got the idea from a website Suzi sent to me...they used it differently than I intend to.) Then, we laid it out on the snow-covered concrete in front of the front door.
The first part of the test is to see what would happen underneath and as expected, it melted the snow underneath.
The next part of the test is to see if it will keep snow from forming on top. It has just begun to snow again, so we will see.
What we hope to accomplish is an open "channel" through which melting snow and ice can travel. So, I can make up long pantyhose legs full of ice melt and lay them in my shop gutter, preventing the snow and ice from forming and allowing the snow on the shop roof to melt off and drain away, without washing away the ice melt. THis will keep the snow from backing up and flooding my shop again.
I have no idea if this will work or not...
Dang, sorry I missed him. I was at the grocery store getting milk and bread :)
Also running lots of other errands, health food store, hardware store, drug store.... I'm in now, so I can keep the bird bath filled up; those blinkety-blank starlings splash it out every 20 minutes.
Heh. I didn't do the bread, milk, eggs, gas thing this time. Now we'll probably get 10-12 inches!
Looks like he took over that 9:00 to 11:00 spot just before Rush.
Kinda like fighter pilots, Army Rangers, and all Marines.;o)
We were almost out of milk anyway, but not that many people were at the store. I'll just never forget the time the weatherman said "We just don't know when it is going to stop snowing...." when we had 8-10 inches on the ground, 'course that was before all this new-fangled radar.
No kiddin'...they said we'd be getting snow this evening and it's been snowing since this morning!
Global Warming!
