Well, the monitor is sure fuzzy & "wet" reading your story.
... what a precious gift you had from God & it so hard to lose them when you are connected at him 24/7 like it appears you were.
About a year ago I lost my Oliver.. a bit like yours but NOT world traveler.. a FReeper, nursing home visitor, friend to all.. He traveled the US with me & went everywhere with me in my van. He biked, hiked, kayaked & cross-Skied wiht me. I still cry almost daily for him despite the fact I have two wonderful rescue pups now.
The pain of losing those dear furry friends is hard to imagine, unless you have been there & Bob I think you will find many at FR who are really pet lovers & do understand.
I also had a service for Oliver & it had music, readings, sharing from friends. My friends brought their doggie friends, who were Oliver's friends. I didn't bury him for a long time..It was cold, frozen winter.. I had a touch of comfort to stroke him & look at his perfect body... in natures cold storage
please feel the caring prayers for you across the miles..

So very sorry for the loss of your beloved pet.
It is so hard, is it not, to have to make that final decision, even when you know it is the kindest one.
