Prayer Thread for the Election
Me | 11/2/06 | Knitting a Conundrum

Posted on 11/02/2006 9:13:31 PM PST by Knitting A Conundrum

Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is a wicked ruler over a poor people. A ruler who lacks understanding is a cruel oppressor; but he who hates unjust gain will prolong his days. Proverbs 28: 15, 16

With the election coming, I ask those of you who wish to to join me in prayer for the election.

Morning Election Prayer Bump!

"Shower, O heavens, from above,
and let the skies rain down righteousness;
let the earth open, that salvation may sprout forth,
and let it cause righteousness to spring up also;
I the LORD have created it.

"Woe to him who strives with his Maker,
an earthen vessel with the potter!
Does the clay say to him who fashions it, `
'What are you making'?
or `Your work has no handles'?

Woe to him who says to a father,
`What are you begetting?'
or to a woman, `With what are you in travail?'"

Thus says the LORD, the Holy One of Israel:
"Will you question me about my children,
or command me concerning the work of my hands?"

Isaiah 45: 8-11

O Lord,
Our enemies dance for glee, thinking they have overcome us, that on election day, those who long to reign in our light and hope, that they will begin spreading their darkness across this nation.

Be with us, and may your will be done, and kindle in the heart of each and every person who listens to you, who longs to do the right thing, the desire to cast his or her ballot in a way pleasing to you, and may your will be done.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Joshua 24:15

15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."

May it be, Merciful Father, that the Holy Spirit is wresting and contending within the hearts of those who run after false gods ... the god of convenience or the god of perverted pleasure or the god of unholy power or the god of riches. And may it be, Living Lord, that untold numbers will be awakened to the calamity that awaits if we are disobedient in our obligation as good stewards of your earthly realm. May we make haste to be obedient, even as those whose intentions are dark find insurmountable obstacles on Election Day ... prevent them, I pray, from plunging our beloved land into gridlock and chaos. Swell the ranks of those who desire to do what is right ... greatly diminish those who seek to do harm.

Grant wisdom, I pray, to all those who are charged with providing an election without fraud and error. Give them eyes to see and ears to hear and a tongue that is swift to report, that the people might exercise their freedom without interference. Let nothing cause our absentee and military ballots to go astray, but may every one be counted.

It is to You, O Lord, that we look, for You are the Creator of government. May those who will be charged with authority reflect Your will and Your way, that we might continue in Your favor. We are not worthy, but worthy are You, O Lord, and great is Your love. Guide us and guard us, in the Name of our Lord and Savior we pray, Amen ...

For the fool speaks folly,
and his mind plots iniquity:
to practice ungodliness,
to utter error concerning the LORD,
to leave the craving of the hungry unsatisfied,
and to deprive the thirsty of drink.
The knaveries of the knave are evil;
he devises wicked devices to ruin the poor with lying words, even when the plea of the needy is right.
But he who is noble devises noble things,
and by noble things he stands.

Isaiah 32: 6-8

Lord, teach us, as a nation, to choose the good from the bad, see what is dross and what is gold, and to know that light is light, and dark is dark, no matter how pretty they wrap it for us.

Help us choose wisely on Election Day, and help us be the nation you would have us be.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.

Mid-morning election prayer bump!

(I will be out of the house for several hours today. Please post your comments, prayers, meditations here for all to share!)

Come and see what God has done:
he is terrible in his deeds among men.
He turned the sea into dry land;
men passed through the river on foot.
There did we rejoice in him,
who rules by his might for ever,
whose eyes keep watch on the nations --
let not the rebellious exalt themselves.

Bless our God, O peoples,
let the sound of his praise be heard,
who has kept us among the living,
and has not let our feet slip.
For thou, O God, hast tested us;
thou hast tried us as silver is tried.
Thou didst bring us into the net;
thou didst lay affliction on our loins;
thou didst let men ride over our heads;
we went through fire and through water;
yet thou hast brought us forth to a spacious place.

Psalm 66:5-12

Lord, hear our cry.

Though the ones who reject your word crow and caw and plot how they will constrain those of us who follow your way, we will not fear, for you are always with us.

Help us, all people of good will, this election day to be open to your call, to answer as you would have us answer, to vote as becomes a person who follows in your ways, and put our trust in you.

You are our light and our salvation. Let us not turn away from the beacon you provide from us.

Be with us, and may we be the tools in your hand, the people of your heart, the light on the hill, the leaven that makes it a world where your light can touch the hearts of those who do not know you.

We ask this in Jesus' mighty name, our king and Lord and Savior, Amen.

Midafternoon election prayer bump!

Let not your heart faint, and be not fearful at the report heard in the land, when a report comes in one year and afterward a report in another year, and violence is in the land, and ruler is against ruler. Jeremiah 51;46

Lord, as the election nears, help us to trust, love, and do the right thing, make the right choices, and not let those in the darkness discourage us from following you.

Amen.

Father in Heaven I come to You , first and formost PRAISING YOu for salvation through the blood of Your Son Jesus Christ. I acknowledge that there is nothing hid from You. You know all things. From before the foundations were formed, You are the GREAT I AM.

America is far from You Lord. We have turned to our own ways and walked away from Your Holy Will as a nation. I ask that You first of all forgive my personal sins and indifference. I accept Your cleansing. I ask that You would forgive the sins of our nation. " In wrath, remember Mercy" oh precious Father.

Have mercy on the election outcome on Tuesday. Lord I ask that those who are indifferent or angry at the Republican party for diluting their values, would put aside that anger and do what is right. I pray that as David slew Goliath with five little stones and and YOUR POWER, that we will be able to " slay" those who stand out against that which displeases You....

GOD come down upon our nation in a mighty way and revive us, is my prayer.

In The Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Amen........

Faith is The Victory

http://my.homewithgod.com/heavenlymidis2/faith2.html

Words by John H. Yates
Music by Ira D. Sankey
1891

1 John 5:4
"For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world:
and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."

Encamped along the hills of light, ye Christian soldiers, rise.
And press the battle ere the night shall veil the glowing skies.
Against the foe in vales below let all our strength be hurled.
Faith is the victory, we know,
That overcomes the world.

Chorus
Faith is the victory!
Faith is the victory!
O glorious victory,
That overcomes the world.

His banner over us is love, our sword the Word of God.
We tread the road the saints above with shouts of triumph trod.
By faith, they like a whirlwind's breath, swept on o'er every field.
The faith by which they conquered death
Is still our shining shield.

Chorus
Faith is the victory!
Faith is the victory!
O glorious victory,
That overcomes the world.

On every hand the foe we find drawn up in dread array.
Let tents of ease be left behind, and onward to the fray.
Salvation's helmet on each head, with truth all girt about,
The earth shall tremble 'neath our tread,
And echo with our shout.

Chorus
Faith is the victory!
Faith is the victory!
O glorious victory,
That overcomes the world.

To him that overcomes the foe, white raiment shall be giv'n.
Before the angels he shall know His name confessed in Heav?n.
Then onward from the hill of light, our hearts with love aflame,
We'll vanquish all the hosts of night,
In Jesus' conqu'ring Name.

Chorus
Faith is the victory!
Faith is the victory!
O glorious victory,
That overcomes the world!

Evening Election Prayer Bump!

Lord, remember us, your children gathered here, praying for your aid against what feels like a gathering darkness. Enkindle in us the fire of your love, breathe in us the trust we need to call upon you even as those who would attack us for believing in you rally against us.

On this election day, Lord, open the eyes of those who would cling to the darkness in the mistaken concept that it is good, and help them see what needs to be done to make this country strong and safe.

Lord, we praise your name, you who walk beside us and call us home. Help us to always be ready to be the tool in your hands.

In the name of Jesus, Amen!

Heartfelt Amens to your Prayers, Dear Sisters, and to Every Prayer of the Saints!

I was Reading this Portion of Ps.119, Thinking how Wonderful it would be if the People of our Nation had it in their Minds and Hearts:

41Let thy mercies come also unto me, O LORD, even thy salvation, according to thy word.

42So shall I have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me: for I trust in thy word.

43And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments.

44So shall I keep thy law continually for ever and ever.

45And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.

46I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed.

47And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.

48My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes.

Please Hear our Prayers, Your Excellency our King; and Pour Out Your Blessings Upon our Land. Forgive us our Sins, our Great, Loving God, and Grant us Repentance through Thy Son. We Love You, our Savior and Lord, and Cry for Godliness and Grace. Save our America, and Help us to Walk in Your Ways. Cleanse us from our National Sins, and Restore us to Righteousness Again. In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit we Pray, amen.

Amen, Kitty Mittens!

Psalm 2 is a reminder for those who forget who is in control:

Why do the nations conspire,
and the peoples plot in vain?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
and the rulers take counsel together,
against the LORD and his anointed, saying,
"Let us burst their bonds asunder,
and cast their cords from us."

He who sits in the heavens laughs;
the LORD has them in derision.
Then he will speak to them in his wrath,
and terrify them in his fury, saying,
"I have set my king on Zion, my holy hill."

I will tell of the decree of the LORD:
He said to me, "You are my son,
today I have begotten you.
Ask of me,
and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession.
You shall break them with a rod of iron,
and dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel."

Now therefore, O kings, be wise;
be warned, O rulers of the earth.
Serve the LORD with fear, with trembling
kiss his feet, lest he be angry,
and you perish in the way;
for his wrath is quickly kindled.

Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
