The Official Friday Silliness Thread Salutes Our Favorite TV/Movie Cartoons
Self & IMDB.com ^ | October 20, 2006 | Sully777

Posted on 10/20/2006 1:06:01 AM PDT by sully777

It's Friday and time for one of my favorite TV cartoons, Bugs Bunny's "Little Red Riding Rabbit." Sing along with Red as she skips towards Grandma's housefrom the cartoon:

The five o'clock whistle's on the blink/the whistle don't blow so whattaya think/my papa still works in the factory/ cuz he doesn't know what TIME...it happens to BE...

Nothing sweeps away the blues better than a good cartoon. Whether it is the manic humor of Tex Avery, the societal humor of South Park and The Simpsons, or the computer generated quirkiness of Jimmy Neutron, life seems to get better after ten minutes watching TV cartoons.

What are your favorites cartoons? What cartoons do you despise? And when will the Wile E. Coyote (super genius) ever catch the Road Runner? Don't be shy Post your photos and theme songs you recall from your childhood memories.

Have a great Friday and a great weekend!

That's great! He really did a lot of voices. My kids and I enjoy trying to figure out who does voices on cartoons. Thanks!

Really interesting stuff.
I used to listen to The Howard Stern Show in the early to late 1980s (his intro bumper music at the time was played by "The Double-O-Zeroes") While he was on WNBC, the traffic reports were done by the lovely and talented Donna Fiducia. As per Ms Fiducia, Donna is related to Dan DeCarlo and would talk at length with Stern about the characters...which kept her from doing the traffic reports.

Small world...Mark Parisi of Off the Mark fame graduated with me from Salem State College (MA) in 1984. He was a DJ
at campus station WMWM (Friday nights IIRC) and used to do cartoons for the SSC Log. (I am STILL at that radio
station...volunteer work/occasional DJ. Hence the radio part of my name!)

"Parisi said his fondest memories of SSC were those spent working at WMWM, SSC's radio station."

Fractured Fairy Tales were FUNNY. I was such a fan of Rocky and Bullwinkle that I begged my Mom to buy Quisp cereal.

I won't tell what Stern used to call Donna to get her goat...

Yes Rob Paulsen does a lot...so does Billy West (Fry on Futurama; he worked with Charles Laquidara on WBCN Boston and also Stern's show); Harry Shearer (many voices on the Simpsons)

Of course we have to remember the late:
Mel Blanc
Don Messick
Daws Butler
