The one thing about SoS is that it changes over the course of a season. An early season blowout of a patsy could turn a few points if that patsy comes back and has a winning season and especially knocks off a team or two they shouldn't. On the other hand, if that patsy goes winless, you're screwed...
Texas is going to have a huge task climbing back into the hunt for the national championship. Ohio State has only one tough opponent remaining, and there a lot of teams the Longhorns would have to leapfrog over a lot of teams to get up to at least the #2 position.
Either that, or the SEC isn't really all that great. USC, the team that hasn't been blowing out Pac 10 teams this year, manhandled Arkansas 50-14 in their house this year. Hapless Colorado came within a whisker of beating Georgia in their house.
Sure, SEC teams knock each other off, but that's no different than in any other conference.
Yes...but they claim that pretty much every year regardless of reality. This year, the SEC has a few top 10 candidates, a large group of legitimate top 25 teams, and some that fall just short, while the Big10 has two excellent teams, a couple maybes, and then the rest (though I suspect Indiana is rather stronger than they've been given credit for). Last year, during the regular season, the Big10 was much stronger than the SEC, having no team that lost to a team with a losing record and only having lost 6 games total outside of conference (at one point the worst team they'd lost to was 7-4).
i wonder how deceptive this first ranking is since it came out before their game against New Mexico St. last night?
And how many eyeballs were turned to ESPN, since apparently since F'in Plummer has been running the same naked bootleg play since about 2003 and we still can't figure out how the hell to stop it?? $#@$@. *Deep breath* I'm ok now, just had to get that off my chest.
