My Dragon Fly and Me

If I could be a Dragon Fly
and wing my way through the sky
I would never be shy
just me and my Dragon Fly!

By moonlight we ride the wind
chase the comets tail for fun
by day we would hide from the sun
our fragile wings would come undone

On darkest nights we would use
fireflies as our guide
we would dip and we would glide
through the heavens open wide
and scatter diamonds in the night sky
my Dragon Fly and me...

And we would wing past our lovers
silent in the night...
to kiss their face in our flight
much to their surprise and delight
my Dragon Fly and me in sight...

Such a view do we share
away up here in the air
of breezes soft through our hair
my Dragon Fly and me a pair...

Two election time filk songs:

I

If we don't get out the vote,
who's to blame?
If we don't get out the vote,
who's to blame?
If we don't get out the vote,
then the MSM will gloat,
If we don't get out the vote,
who's to blame?

If we don't vote GOP,
who will care?
If we don't vote GOP,
who will care?
If we don't vote GOP,
Welcome Speaker Pelosi,
If we don't vote GOP,
who will care?

If Osama could vote here,
He'd vote Dem,
If Osama could vote here,
He'd vote Dem
If Osama could vote here,
Dems would be his choice, it's clear.
If Osama could vote here,
He'd vote Dem.

If you like impeachment trials,
Stay at home.
If you like impeachment trials,
Stay at home,
If you like impeachment trials,
Dems will give you one with smiles,
If you like impeachment trials,
Stay at home.

If you want the US free,
Vote GOP
If you want the US free,
Vote GOP
If you want the US free
Instead of Euope-like to be
If you want the US free
Vote GOP

(to the tune if you're happy and you know it)

Hang down your head non-voters,
hang down your head and cry,
You chose to not take action,
And now all you can do is sigh.

Election day grew closer,
The media frenzy grew,
but you decided to stay home
And let the crazies vote in the zoo.

Hang down your head non-voters,
hang down your head and cry,
You chose to not take action,
And now all you can do is sigh.

Hope you like Pelosi,
her face is very very tight,
I hope you like to listen
to her shrieking in the night.

Hang down your head non-voters,
hang down your head and cry,
You chose to not take action,
And now all you can do is sigh.

Hope you like Jihadis,
They're happy you stayed home,
Now they're taking over Europe,
And giving you atomic calls to Rome.

Hang down your head non-voters,
hang down your head and cry,
You chose to not take action,
And now all you can do is sigh.

Once we gave the Iraqis
Hope for a better day,
But the people voted in cut and run,
cause they didn't have the guts to stay.

Hang down your head non-voters,
hang down your head and cry,
You chose to not take action,
And now all you can do is sigh.

How do you like the trials?
How they keep from any work
Everything that needs to be done
Is stopped to drag Bush in the dirt.

Hang down your head non-voters,
hang down your head and cry,
You chose to not take action,
And now all you can do is sigh.

(to the tune of Tom Dooley)

Ode To Autumn
by John Keats

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eaves run;
To bend with apples the mossed cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimmed their clammy cell.

Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?
Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find
Thee sitting careless on a granary floor,
Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind;
Or on a half-reaped furrow sound asleep,
Drowsed with the fume of poppies, while thy hook
Spares the next swath and all its twined flowers;
And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep
Steady thy laden head across a brook;
Or by a cider-press, with patient look,
Thou watchest the last oozings, hours by hours.

Where are the songs of Spring? Ay, where are they?
Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,---
While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day,
And touch the stubble-plains with rosy hue;
Then in a wailful choir, the small gnats mourn
Among the river sallows, borne aloft
Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;
And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;
Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft
The redbreast whistles from a garden-croft,
And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.

hanging in a Chinaberry tree
teasing a Butterfly on my nose
living in opulance
alone unwinding my home
to fly solo in the universe.

Good Sunday afternoon to you Kathy.

Hope you are able to enjoy the day. Thanks for the music.

It has been a nice day here not to cold, but I did not go out until just a few moments ago. Soon it will be dark here. Ah, the mole months.

Season's getting just about cold
and really a touch crisp again,
and I'm now getting snuggled
under my heavy old down comforter
like a cranky old field mole
hiding out in a snug burrow
willing to just rest and out wait
this round with winter's bitter cold
until a forgiving summer comes
to finally chase it all away
that just my own rascally way
just check my reasoning and sums
cause you know I'm getting old
and the time's getting late
and age cuts a deep furrow
and takes it's enviable toll
here's my trusty lighter
by the fire I've struggled
lets drink to hide the pain
of growing steadily on too old

Too, old is a state of mind, I find,
a number, does not stop a heart from loving
a soul from aching for a mate
for winter's nights are long
a cold bed can be unforgiving
and a dreamy full moon wasting
its patterns on the wall
nor the ice castles on cold glass.
Maybe only lone soul cans see the beauty.

THIS IS WHAT LOVE IS ALL ABOUT

It was a busy morning, approximately 8:30 A.M., when an elderly gentleman in his 80's, arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb.

He stated that he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.
I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would to able to see him.

I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound.
On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.

While taking care of his wound, we began to engage in conversation. I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry.

The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife.

I then inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's disease.

As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late. He replied that she no longer knew who he was. She had not recognized him in five years now.

I was surprised, and asked him, "And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?"
He smiled as he patted my hand and said, "She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is."

I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought, "That is the kind of love I want in my life."

True love is neither physical, nor romantic.
True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.

With all the jokes and fun that are in e-mails, sometimes there are some that come along that have an important message.

This kind is one of those. I just had to share it with you all.

Oh, by the way, peace is seeing a sunset and knowing who to thank.

The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have.

A lonely soul so quite, is a silent perch,
to stare across life seeing the pain of strife.
The joy of love in shades tinted by time,
makes it easier to craft it in a rhyme?
Is that too a part of the patient life,
as the fates and I in mortal effort lurch

In the echo chamber of the soul,
memories take on missing life.
To now play upon the inner stage,
be it laugher or dark cold rage.
For we sit on the edge of the knife,
daring all, to one day be whole?

Puzzle within an enigma that is me,
crafted by a life in a mortal maze.
Each side part of the other to reflect,
and so make us seem tricky to detect.
Changing paths in a moment out of phase,
we alter the path of who and what we be.

Two Stones and a Heart

In a church yard in Erin green
two stones shaded by an ancient tree
hold a bit of history, and part of me
and what’s left is poor and mean

One is a larger stone than the other
but both hold priceless treasures great
but I realize their full worth too late
there quiet under their verdant cover

Time moved on but not completely for me
and so I remember all that was back then
and so overtaken by that bitter loss again
and wonder why it was that path to be

Ten thousand miles dulls it not, my friend
that ache as fresh as the soul scars are old
and still I falter to let them go from my fold
so I must this old memory once again tend
