The earliest treatise on algebra is the Egyptian Rhind Papyrus (c.1700 BC). But in c.3000 BC Egyptians called it "aha Calculus" because "Aha," "Ahe," or "Ahau" was the name of the second pharaoh of the first dynasty. Meaning mass, quantity, or heap (a pile of many things), it was used as an abstract term for the unknown in an equation. Originally, the word "algebra"-("al" "from Egypt"--"al-Kemit")--meant the reuniting of broken parts and was later defined by the Arabs as "restoration", including "bone setting". Note that Yin and Yang are also about the union of separate parts... Africans found a place for arithmetic and algebra during their on-going activities on such vast construction projects-- as in building temples, pyramids, irrigation works, and obelisks.

no, it was the Egyptians...you can tell tehy discovered it because of what they called it - they said "Aha! Calculus!"
Scratching my head... I always thought Roswell was involved in chewing gum & duct tape, not to mention velcro & teflon. Why are you trying to move the timeline to explain Post-Its?
"BTW, I have also read claims by Indians and Chinese that they invented algebra, etc. Is that barfy?"
I would consider any lie passed off as history "barfy".
"What is it about Afrocentrism that's barfier than Eurocentrism?"
I suppose it's false claims to have invented everything and every ancient notable person was black. Africa didn't drag Europe kicking and screaming into the the modern era, it was the other way around. The modern world was built in Europe. That's just the way it is. Sorry the facts aren't multi-culti enough for you.
Must be one of those affirmitive action black academics who wrote this.
This is so unintentionally hilarious that I had to clamp my jaws shut to keep from braying with laughter. Read the whole thing (it's short).
Africans not only did not invent algebra, it's appallingly clear that some African Americans still cannot comprehend it.
It's been refuted so many times, this is now beyond ridiculous!

There you go, thinking like a human again that time is linear.

hehehe Good one!
Don't hold back, tell us how you really feel. ;')
Shhh! Don't even joke about that, or the rest of the group will be onto us.
I think the Algae Bra was actually invented by The Creature from the Black Lagoon, which at least does have "black" in the title.
I think Ramesses II dyed his hair red to look more like his Black African forebears. ;')
Have you ever noticed how many GGG posts are about how white Europeans were first to do this, that, and the other? No, how many?
His descendants Juice and Fig are probably making sure the straitjacket is on nice an tight.
One of the best horror flicks EVER
Ultimately El Iblis Shah concludes that somehow the electronic technology of the West will be used to suppress history, such that by some kind of manipulation, any future time travellers will not even be able to find out what really happened. The supposedly phony Eurocentricity will be applied retroactively to build a past that never really happened. In other words, it must be difficult to have a rational conversation with El Iblis Shah. The Great Time Swindle - European History a Fake !The controversial thesis of this publication claims that the dark ages were so dark as to be practically non-existent. Especially for the period of between 611 - 914 there is no hard evidence that anything ever happened within that time. According to the author the assumption of an invented time is supported by the fact that the Gregorian calendar reform in the 16th century only corrected 10 days, instead of the necessary 12,7 or 13 days for the three centuries in question.

...Charles the Great, the supposed descendant of "the House of David" (yes, that's Jesus supposed bloodline, the messianic legacy) is debunked as a mythological figure and indeed as an only legendary "God-king".
To put it short- the greatest historical figure of the middle ages is about as real as Father Christmas...
Black Athena is an analysis of the systematical distortion of historical evidence on the part of classical scholars. Based on racism and combined with political interests ("The Fabrication of Ancient Greece 1785-1985") they are tilting the perspective towards a eurocentric gridlock of ideological hegemony in the interests of a white, male power elite. The ignoring, denying, and surpressing of the crucial role of African, Semitic, Moorish and other non-European influence in western history amounts to censorship.
