For your bookmarking assistance, this is a reference list of links to the Aug 2006 or newer Free Republic threads on the topic of the JonBenet Ramsey murder case and the possible arrest of John Mark Karr as a suspect in her murder.
John Ramsey was the target as a member of the "fat cat" group.
When Access Graphics was created (1989), one of the companies that was part of that merger was Advanced Products Group of Roswell, Ga. John was still down south at that time and so were the Ramseys. Wonder if this was plastered all over the Southern papers??
Roswell is where Patsy Ramsey's sister now lives.
Unfortunately, I think Karr is a serial killer but this one was a change in his pattern, i.e., he never left a ransom note before, the target was more readily available than Jonbenet and it was never at a residence.
I think hoosiermama hit the right button last night with the "transporting cars" from the south to Colorado. It explains the "how is he making money?" (under the table) and how he can travel unnoticed (he's got dealer plates) and without using public transportation.
So his own car remains in Alabama and he's in Colorado.
I'm in NYS. "Southern Car" as advertised in the local papers was a big thing years ago. I can pull hundreds of ads. We use salt up here. With the new rust proofing, that Southern Car reference has slowly disappeared from the ads.
It's Christmas time. People are on unusual schedules. The house is "out of order" with decorations etc.. I do believe John stalked them...but only for a very short time. It's the "when did he pick John Ramsey as the target" that is my big question.
Who once told Karr: "Don't try to grow a brain" or something similar??
Punctuation: Imagine someone writing a ransom note while being careful to punctuate properly. Not only that, but there are a lot of exclamation marks in that note....very similar to the yearbook pattern.
Sarcasm: Both the note and the yearbook contain sarcasm. In the yearbook: "Thanks for caring (unlike your loving sister)". Surely Tara's sister would read the note. That was his "get even" to her.
The note: "Don't try to grow a brain, John". Find out who said that to John Karr (or something similar), and you might have a connection. Sarcastic "rejection" statements.
Words: We all have our own "thing". I use a phrase that drives my kids nuts. My daughter refers to anything over 1 as "millions".
The yearbook: John writes: "Sometimes, so blurred by my own eyes, I've seen the best things come and go simultaneously".
After he was picked up, Suwart said the suspect described the encounter (murder) as a "blur".
This implies two things: Crying and/or "I'm trying to forget and can't.
His obsession mught just be that he thought he could bury the murder but it is torturing him. He talks about it as if it is an obsession. It is not. It's called a "conscience".
His research and correspondence is like going to a physciatrist. He can get it all out. Isn't that what shrinks do? One of his correspondence refers to what I believe is a book on Sexual Disorders.
I don't keep letters from 15 years ago or so. Also, most woman don't hold onto letters of old flames they can't stand. They throw those letters away or burn them!
Where are the handwriting samples of the ransom note and yearbook writings?
TIA
FOxnews just reported the Karr is to return to Boulder today per a source. If this is true I'm surprised but glad this is moving forward. We will soon know if Karr is the guy or not.
Pretty boy? I went out with a gorgeous dude. Guys were always trying to pick him up. No, this is a story of a molester and "revenge" aka "Victory".
Sacajaweau, what you are describing is what I've heard called "consciousness of guilt".
To nopardons, who will say he didn't murder Polly Klaas but he was obsessed with her, or the other children whose murders he also closely followed, I say, if he murdered JonBenet that is the only one of the famous ones that he needs to be guilty of in order for him to fold them into his "consciousness of guilt". Not that he personally did them, but they fit into his thought patterns and even action patterns, if he's a child murderer himself.
Nopardons says Karr claimed to be at a party at the Ramseys on Christmas Day, and of course there wasn't one.
Incorrect...he claimed to have been at a party prior to the murder, did not say it was on Christmas day. The media reported that the Ramseys had one on the 23rd and suggested that was the one he was claiming to be at (I'm not saying he WAS, just talking about his claim.).
Onyx, you joked that he might be "a valid suspect" alright, in quoting MY words to that effect, because after all he was brought all the way from Thailand. Took it as a joke anyway and a sarcastic knock on the prosecutor (not to mention, me).
Skipping over that part, the other words I used were that he has to be carefully investigated and either ruled out or ruled in. There is enough there to qualify for dereliction of duty if the prosecutor were to just laugh it off and slap it away without a very thorough look-see.
I wrote that to you because you had said you didn't know of a single forum member who thought he did it. Since then about 3 or so have bravely admitted they think so, or at least think he COULD have.
I'm in the latter category, and have so stated.
This just came back to mind: nopardons also said in derision against his possible guilt..."have you heard the phone call tape? He sounded insane!" (paraphrase)
I've heard it. I agree he sounded "insane" on the phone call tape.
JonBenet's murderer could not possibly sound so "insane"...was that the point??
Of course he could. That's the realistic point. OF COURSE HE COULD.
"We will call you between 8:00 AM to 10:00 AM about the pickup" makes no sense at all because the sentence implies that he would already have the money by that time. Do you really think you can get $118,000 from an ATM?
The notes says "if you pick up the money earlier"....earlier than when. It's a "garbage" or "nonsense" paragraph EXCEPT for the $118,000 and the "attache case".
You don't need a very big attache case for that amount in those specific bills. Think of a ream of paper. 500-8 1/2"x11" sheets. 6 bills fit on a sheet. $100,000 in $100 dollar bills = 1000/$100 bills....that takes care of 2 of the 6 "spaces" in a 500 sheet ream. There are 4 spaces left.
$18,000 in twenties is 900/$20 bills. That takes up 2 more spaces. There are still two spaces left. Remember, if you are withdrawing that kind of money, it will come in compressed, banded packs and any idiot knows it will be "marked".
Paper bag? Where the hell do you get a paper bag? I haven't used one in YEARS. However, the Ramseys might have paper bags in the house that Karr might have noted on a prior "sneak peak" of the house. He might also have seen an "elaborate" attache case.
So that whole garbage sentence has 3 words that are important: $118,000, attache case, paper bag.
All the paragraphs are the same.
Beheaded refers to John Walsh. I'm sure Karr visited AMW many times.
His southern tie is two-ties. Georgia and the news article of Decemebr 21, 1996 in the Daily camera including a nice picture of John Ramsey.
The dog was at the neighbors and had been there since when?? That's the earliest that Karr could have had access to the house.
Insane is an opinion. He's not doing anything more than pouring his gut out. We've all done it. It's called guilt.
maggief, here are links to the samples.
The Ramseys were at a party, came home and went to bed. The note said he would call them between 8 and 10 am. How did he know that they would have even been up and discovered the note before 8 AM. The phone never rang because it was never supposed to ring. What it did do was give Karr "extra time" while everyone waited for the call and at the same time, they failed to make a thorough search of the house. Is THAT why he left the "elaborate" note? TIME!!
There is just no way he did...I think all his games will be revealed as soon as they interview him..he is an aodd guy, but not the killer
Thank you very much!
The "expert" says the handwriting samples are similar?
Your replies were excellent. I'm particularly interested in what you think of 7 and 8? I think that questions 5, 7 and 8 are crucial to this case. I got a recording of the 911 tape but I can't hear anything. That's partly b/c the volume of PR and the dispatcher is so much louder than John and Burke, so it's hard to set the volume right. Any audio gurus out there that can isolate the relevant portion and increase the volume? Anyway, I think the time of death, manner of head trauma, and the 911 tape are the biggest obstacles in my mind for accepting the Ramseys version of events.
Where did you find out about the overhead door latch? Also, the batteries? I didn't know they were wiped clean, too. Was the flashlight a mag-lite? If not, what kind was it? Was it one of those soft "grippy" kind or was it metallic?
FOX News is reporting that Alabama officials say Karr ran a home day-care center in 1997.
There have been several experts weighing in on the samples; about half say they are similar, half say they aren't.
Everyone was waiting for the 8 AM-10 AM call.He was long gone before they thoroughly searched the house and found the body. He had maybe a 10 hour lead on them.
If he traveled by car, he'd be 600 miles away. If he traveled by plane, he'd be home.
It can become more complicated if we find that he's not home but he is out of town. With a sharp sports car like he was inclined to drive and at night, he could be even farther away from the Ramseys. Speeding??.....The cops would never catch him.....and they'd let him keep flying and smile besides. Not worth their trouble.
The only thing he would need is gas.
Maybe I'm late on this, but did anyone hear that there were in fact TWO separate DNA samples in/about the underwear? That's the source, they're saying, of all the confusion. One was not useful but the other had 10 markers, enough to put into the FBI db. That's the one they are going to compare to.
