An arrest in the JonBenet Ramsey case is due to happen "shortly," according to sources in our newsroom -- I know I can't post the link to our site (we're a Gannett station, and despite the "ban", I would welcome the traffic), but most of you know where I work and what the site is...
According to our sister station in Denver, an arrest took place early this morning in Thailand.
Stand by for details and updates as they come in.
>How did we get THAT piece of disinformation? :: grumble ::
I know. It's really annoying.

I have said for a long time I didn't believe the parents killed Jon Benet. The usual "blame the parents" crowd spent the last decade demonizing the parents and insisting Patsy Ramsey was a psycho who flew into violent rages when her daughter wet the bed and John Ramsey was a "pedophile" and molester, all of this being hyped without ONE shread of evidence pointing to the Ramsey's. The knee-jerk hysteria was amazing, even on FR people were still cursing Patsy Ramsey the day she died.
Can you imagine how John Ramsey must feel when his youngest daughter was brutally killed and instead of a public outcry of support, everyone turned against him and berated him as a murderer and molester without any evidence. It's the precise opposite of the OJ case, you have everyone convinced he's gulity when a mountain of evidence including the DNA samples, fingerprints, handwriting sample, lie-detector test, etc. did NOT match and did NOT point to anyone in the family.
It's a amazing John Ramsey wasn't suicidal in these circumstances.
The knee-jerks do indeed owe the family a heartfelt apology if this guy is proven the killer, though I doubt they will ever get it.
Even people are STILL quick to make assumpitions, throwing about the "pedophile" word with a suspect in custody in Thailand, again, without knowing any of the evidence. Most criminal profiles will tell you the vast majority of child killers and sadistic tortures are NOT pedophiles.
To the knee-jerks who went on a witch hunt against the Ramsey family, you ought to be ashamed. Next time, try finding actual EVIDENCE before you brand someone a sadist killer and a rapist.
The MSM is not reliable ... nor is the Internet! :)
do you have a link for that site?
The parents did not help their case by clamming up. I admit they did what most legal experts would say to do ... lawyer up. But parents in grief over a child killed usually cooperate more.

But it's been swamped for the last two hours.
Intruder? This was a deranged killer who doesnt think normally. The ransom note was meant to be a rabbit trail, and it worked. He was obviously around the Ramseys when probably Patsy mentioned the money in passing to a friend or over the phone. He could have been moonlighting as part of a painting crew and worked in the Ramseys house, teachers dont get paid much and Boulder is very expensive. " ... FBI profilers shot down the intruder theory."
Pure nonsense. John Douglas himself interviewed John Ramsey within weeks of the murder and announced that he was certain that John Ramsey had nothing to do with his daughters murder. He never even considered Patsy because after looking at the evidence he knew that this was a sexual homicide.
Hmmm ... do they know if he lived in Boulder?
Thanks...I can't get in....they must really be busy

Treeless' take: we need to ask why this is coming out now.
The skeptic in me believes that the mom was somehow involved and this is why it is coming out now.
The non-skpetic is extremely happy for the dad.
Ten years is a long time ago. They never said WHEN he was a teacher.
The truth is stranger than fiction.
I think Patsy's death IS a coincidence. My opinion only.
Lemon curry?
Why unbelievable? That i'm skeptical? I hope in subsequent days that as more information is released that i will be convinced they got the right guy. But at this point merely having a confession doesn't convince me and as to the details he has given that supposedly only the killer and those working on the case would have known, i'm simply waiting to see if that is truly accurate (that it was a closely held secret) and even if so whether he could have somehow gotten ahold of this info. In other words, that perhaps these details weren't as tightly guarded as we are led to believe and that someone obsessed with the case might have stumbled upon a few of them.

I can't get in...too much traffic, I guess...
I think probably Patsy's death is a coincidence in that I doubt she left any letter or anything naming him. It may, however, have something to do with why he decided to confess now.
