I heard Brian Williams compare suicide bombers to US special forces. I was listening to Hugh Hewitt's Radio Show. He is on vaction, his host was someone nameed Jed or Jess I heard this man on other shows like Rush, Hannity etc.
He said I am going to break when I come back I will tell you something that is unbelieveible and until I heard it I could not believe it. After the break he mad e a few comments on the Theorists already saying the Bob Threat was Bush engineered.
Then said just hours Chris Matthews was talking to Brian Williams and they were disxcussing how Mike Wallce had gone to Tahran, Iran and that if the Iraians knew us better they would not unleach the suicide bombers on us like they had in Israe. Matthews made the comment that these suicide bombers had no trouble killing themselves first and anyone else around.
As a newsroom veteran, all that usually happens with "profanity-laced" phone messages is they are recorded and played back at the Christmas party.
Heh, I can see how that would be Christmas party fun, especially after some nog.

He was comparing one aspect of the actions of fighters on both sides. He was complimenting our troops in a very clumsy way. He never said our men were blowing anyone up, so your mentioning that is beside the pint.
I'm done with this thread. Too many people who are just looking for something to bitch about where there is nothing to bitch about.

...if destroying one's credibility cause they obviously misspoke and meant something else....which you know he did, then Bush's cred is down the dumper with all the goofy things that have come out of his mouth.....
One more thing, Brian Williams is supposed to be a 'news reader' not an 'analyst' or editor who shares his opinions.

are you nuts......did you listen to him....the inflection and tone....he was not being mean spirited at all...he was trying to convey a compliment.....but alas... I know some FReepers will hate and hate and if a media type says something....well, they must by wrong or hateful....there was no disdain in his voice at all....jeesh....put away your "I hate media or Dems" hate and see the situation for what it was.....the hypocrisy here sometimes is knee deep
Yes, I did listen to him and listened again. Will still say that Brian misspoke. If you know any special forces or navy seals or first responders you know that they are not equal to those desiring to blow themselves up and take the lives of as many innocent people as possible.

The terrorists are willing to kill themselves to take the lives of innocents. They are motivated by a vision of replacing individual liberty with restrictive totalitarianism.
Soldiers, firefighters, and others like them, act out of selflessness to preserve life beyond their own, seeking to either stop the further bloodshed of innocents or save lives that may yet be preserved. They are motivated by moral or religious values that place a premium on the positive potential of human life.
There is no commonality between the two.
