U.S.-Mexico merger opposition intensifies
World Net Daily ^ | July 9, 2006 | Joseph Farah

Posted on 07/10/2006 5:51:15 AM PDT by brain bleeds red

WASHINGTON – Are secret meetings being held between the corporate and political elites of the U.S., Mexico and Canada to push North America into a European Union-style merger?

Is President Bush's reluctance to control the border and enforce laws requiring deportation of foreigners who enter the country illegally part of a master plan to all but eliminate borders between the U.S., Canada and Mexico?

Does the agenda of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America include a common currency that would scrap the dollar in favor of what some are calling the "amero"?

It may be the biggest story of the 21st century, but few press outlets are telling it. In fact, until very recently, few in the U.S. were aware of the plans and even fewer denouncing what appears to be the implementation of an effort some have characterized as "NAFTA on steroids."

But opposition is mounting.

I always KNEW that sunny smile, infectuous optimism and generous American spirit must hide a Black Heart devoted to the destruction of the USA.

Yup, I knew he was a faker. And do you know why? Because there were publications back then like WorldNutDaily warning us.

Not at all. It is a good thing such fearful people as populate these threads were not depended upon to achieve our independence. Scared of their own shadows types don't achieve much.

o contraire! What is the crime at being diligent? I'm trying to determine crap from fact here. Truth from disinformation.

Money says the idea is not that far fetched. Just look at how NAFTA was presented, de-fanged then shoved down our throats.

Would you agree that the WSJ often contains musings of leading economic thinkers & think tanks from which administrations have occasionally been known to draw ideas for policy?

Sure.

Is it really so outrageous to imagine that there there are some in positions of influence who think a EU style union might be a good thing for our hemisphere as well?

No. So? Does that prove Corsi's fantasy about the Amero is more likely? Because Bush never mentioned it, Bush must be pushing it? Was that in the WSJ too?

What good is an 'economic union' without economic continuity? It seems reasonable to expect any such initiative would include a common currency, or at least common valuation.

Maybe not to you, but it would to most, I suspect.

I've never heard the phrase "economic continuity". What's your definition?

It seems reasonable to expect any such initiative would include a common currency, or at least common valuation.

A common currency is a bad idea. And unnecessary. So is equalizing tax rates.

I don't think anyone is serious about pushing a common currency. I'd be surprised if the Euro lasts another 10 years. Italy might drop out of the Euro. If they do, it could start a trend. Germany hates the Euro.

Bush is behaving as if a merger would be a good idea,

No, he is not.

There is no conspiracy needed...

Of course you're right!

Try speeding past the Mexican toll booth....if you're insane.

That's what America needs. Millions of barely literate Mexican castoffs!

Nothing wrong with NAFTA if you are not at war with the rest of the world.

Diligence and paranoia based on ignorance are not the same thing.

There are millions of Americans I would trade for those Mexicans in a heartbeat. Far from being "castoffs" they may be the best and brightest. America does have a tendency to attract that type.

An "open mind" is the least of your problems.

There is no fringe as to this issue haven't you heard. Many people have adopted the famous line of Malcom X "By any means Necessary"

It doesn't matter if we lose our souls in the process

BUMP ! What do you folks think about this Farah article in the World Net Daily ?

A few years ago, I might have thought that it was just another conspiracy theory. However, seeing Bush pushing hard for "guest worker" program and how border security which is crucial to national security was only getting a serious attention after Minutemen activists stepped in, it may seem that North American equivalent of EU is really in works behind the backs of American voters. Plus, people like Lou Dobbs and Jerome Corsi do not seem like conspiracy theory nuts at all. They are respectable authors, serious researchers and public figures.

Maybe some details Farah got wrong, but in principle, could it be that the megalomaniac globalist project is being pushed down the throats of average Americans, Canadians and Mexicans ? If that's even partially true, I definitely don't want any part of that. We see how "effective" European Union is and we definitely don't want the same thing happening with the United States. US, Canada and Mexico should be good neighbors--there is absolutely no reason to merge them into a one giant superstate.

Well, the protecting the borders and all that implies is a very difficult problem. What folks on the extremes whether left or right fail to recognize is that there is no magic solution to this. I suppose that is why I see a comprehensive solution as the most practical starting point.
