The Hobbit Hole XXX - Then world behind and home ahead...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 06/28/2006 10:14:11 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Then world behind and home ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

We've all been taking turns at the carpet cleaner today - I only spent an hour and a half with it and my back hurts! We've got half the house done though.

I finished all the shopping except for the beer run later this week, and I need to get a couple items of clothing. Mom's almost half done decorating my dress and veil. My sister baked the cakes and will ice and assemble them later this week; she just was worried about having enough time to do them after she got back from school next weekend. Since she's doing a carrot cake, a chocolate cake, and a white cake, I don't think she's overreacting at all!

Heh. I'd rather paint than strip wallpaper.

Been poking around at the program. I will send it back tonight or maybe tomorrow sometime. No big changes but a lot of little ones.

Other than that just random chores and hanging out.

Cool. I made a few changes myself, I'll look at yours and collate.

Lots of chores here too. I am sick of carpet cleaning! Oh well, we're about done for tonight. I'm going to have a quick shower and then I'll probably give you a call in a bit.

I absolutely HATE doing wallpaper. The closest SirKit and I ever came to blows was trying to put up wallpaper. Never again. I don't mind painting, I just hate washing brushes etc. From now on, we're going to get rollers and tray liners that can be thrown away. My time is way to valuable to be standing there, running water, trying to clean the paint out of a roller. It wastes inordinate amounts of water, too!

We're going over to Rockey's Ace Hardware tomorrow to get 12 rollers and some painting masking tape. I've still got to paint the family room, dining room and living room, and touch up the kitchen. Thankfully, I don't have to paint any of the trim downstairs; that takes more time than just painting the walls.

I'm gonna help my former s-i-l make the wedding cake for my niece. She's getting married on Nov. 1st, but they're having a reception on Nov. 4th. So as soon as we leave Ft. Morgan on Nov. 1st, I'm gonna head up to Hattiesburg to help her with those. I'm looking forward to being able to help with showers and weddings for family members when we get back down there.

She's doing fine. She's kinda bummed because her computer box was damaged in shipment so she is without her own computer right now. She's using the computer in the lab next door. She's been late for class once this week. She has an 8:40 Calculus class, and woke up one morning at 9. Luckily the class is just next door, so she was able to get there in 5 minutes. The class is just review right now, so she didn't miss much. She has that class with two of her roommates, and has at least one roommate in each of her other classes, so that's useful. If any of them miss a class, they can share notes, and they can discuss the lectures outside of class.

Sounds like a good day you had; a fun one commencing at 16:15. Sorry to hear 'bout the back.

We watched 'The Sentinel' tonight; pretty good flick, well worth a rental. Interesting firearm guffaw in any early scene, you'll know it immediately. Jack did okay, even without Chloe..

Hi all! Here's our report from corn maze moot :~)

First, at home, Tricksey getting to know Cisco and Homer (again).

Now we're at the corn maze... led by Jessie with the map and Becky... The maze was REALLY dusty. We all got coated with dust, inside and out. Would have been a little more pleasant if we'd had some recent rain. But we made it through the maze. :~)

A decision at the crossroads :~)

This is the hero shot :~) Imagine the Fellowship theme swelling in dramatic fashion :~)

Checkpoint

Here you can see how much dust we kicked up. The dogs were kinda choking down at dog level, gak.

v

Back home we hosed off kids and dogs and a kiddie pool was purchased :~)

And there was some swinging :~D

And finally Aly...close up :~)

I'd forgotten about The Sentinel! I'll have to put that on our Netflix list. We watched Inside Man the other night. Despite it being a Spike Lee film, it was pretty good. We just didn't watch any of the interviews with him because we can't stand the man. ;o)

LOL at Aly close up...

It was a fun day! Thanks for inviting me along!

And Cisco had a *blast*. Now he's dog-tired. Hasn't moved since we got in.

Tomorrow I refill the kiddie pool for him, though. ;-)
