The Hobbit Hole XXX - Then world behind and home ahead...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 06/28/2006 10:14:11 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Then world behind and home ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Heh...I've got two instruments all to myself. :)

I need to start on the windows this weekend....do you paint before you caulk or caulk before you paint?

You were still able to buy a teacher's edition of something from ebay? I thought they were no longer allowing that. There was a lot of buzz about it on my Classical ed. message board. Folks were angry because they usually got a lot of their books from there, and were no longer going to be able to do that.

Thank you! I stayed up late last night watching TV with Clare and Paul, so I slept in this morning. Just downstairs getting a second vat o' coffee!

Thanks! I'm gonna have to figure out something the kids can fix for supper. Paul & Clare have been enjoying doing meals they've seen on Alton Brown's show, so I'll let them do the cooking tonight

do you paint before you caulk or caulk before you paint?

Use paintable caulk and do it before.

Two Instruments ?, you'll meet yourself coming and going. I would hazard a guess half our group is off today.

Yes... we're probly gonna visit today, if that's OK with you still...

Though what Dad and I are talking about is taking the sofa up to Bellevue today in his pickup... and letting Ruthy bring the girls down while we do that. The GPS would probably get her there just fine.

What think?

Okay....I'm going to have to prime the wood frame before I paint. Do I caulk before the primer?

Happy Birthday!

You're kidding! Where did you hear that? I had not heard that and I am fixin' to start selling some TEs! And I've got several bids in on TEs!

I gotta know before I do something wrong!

I know that you can't sell the DVDs because they still belong to Bob Jones...you're basically renting them and you have to return them, if I understand correctly (never looked in to it too much....way out of my budget). And you're not supposed to sell the Mom's Minutes, because that's a perk you get from registering for the sat. class. (But people do sell them...usually tossed in as part of a set.) But if I buy the TE, seems like to me it's mine to sell as I see fit!

Couple of ways of dealing with paint and caulk; new wood gets primed then caulk then paint. If it's good old paint, caulk and paint. It's slow going, like most h.i.p. stuff.

All the flooring is up, preping the subflooring, slow and steady. Getting the baseshoe up was interesting, will be able to reuse some and will make some new; appears some was glued in and some was nailed. Lasted well, 25 years or so.

This is my first window project outside of painting interior frames. :)

I've got wooden frames...as far as I can tell, all the wood is good. I've got some caulking loose on the outside and when I pull it away, it pulls the paint on the frame with it. So I'm looking at bare wood that I'm going to have to prime. Got no problem painting. I just want to make sure I do the caulking right.
