Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Then world behind and home ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Of course, if each of us had *two* dogs, our dogs probably would be better about being left alone...
I think one is as much as I can handle, though.
Looking forward to meeting Tricksey!

Good idea! Let me see what I can come up with.

From the Thomas Kincaide thread. Pretty much the funniest photoshop I've seen in a while...

So, all day long I've been getting calls from 866-393-0986.
I didn't recognize the number and they left no message, so I did a Google Search.
Apparently it's a scam. Question is, how do I block the call from coming in? I can't find an option on the phone to do this. Is there a way to do that with Verizon Wireless?
Thoughts?

I guess call Verizon and see if they'll block from their end? Dunno!

Yeah, I'll try that if it keeps calling.
In other news. Nana's at least feeling well enough to eat. So she calls me and tells me what she wants for dinner. Pretty normal request, except for the fact that there's not an establishment in town that would serve that meal combination as carryout.
But, I'll find it somewhere...

You bet! I'll sit down for a cuppa!
School started for us this past Monday. It seems like non-stop since then. We get as much school done before 11am as possible, then head for the pool, the jedis swim for a couple of hours, then we head home and finish up school. Then, on Monday, we headed back out for Matthew's Latin class.
I'm exhausted just typing that!
Kinda funny, kinda sad...you know C's son is in Matthew's Latin class and has been since the beginning (this is their third year). Well, BA CHEF has a co-op...I think you might remember Matthew did the co-op a few years back...well, when the split happened last year, a lot of people that were still wanting to be part of BA CHEF were allowed to continue on with the co-op, even though the "other" group had control of it. How nice of 'em, eh? (I'da told 'em what for...but that's just me.) But last year was a grace period and this year you couldn't be part of their co-op without being a member of their group. So BA CHEF started their own co-op this year.
It's at the same place as Latin. It ends right when Latin begins. So C has to bring her son to Latin with ALL these BA CHEF folks milling around. ~grin~
So she was sitting with me and about 8 BA CHEF moms were standing around and everyone is talking about the swim party this coming Friday and yada yada yada...it was very friendly banter and no one was being rude or anything. But I felt bad because I look forward to seeing these ladies and visiting with them and I'm pretty sure C doesn't have that in her life.
I know it was her choice, but still...

I try to do school all year around...we did take a little over a month off though. We've been back at it for the last two weeks. Taking next week off though as we will be at my families (leaving G'nad here, so you all will have to check on him) from tomorrow thru next Tuesday.
Had a day last week where I called the Christian School just to take a look see... it's a vey conservative school so that's good, but I like (most of the time) having my kids here and teaching them. Theboy was horribly distracted. So, we've brought his desk up into our bedroom which is off limits to everyone...in hopes that keeping thenewboy out will help. Also, I am setting a timer...any other suggestions? This week was better, but in a regular school he'd probably be on meds with 85% of the other boys.
I'm sorry about C. That's hard to see...keep praying for her 2J, it's gotta make her sad...or at least it would me.
We start swimming in October.

Did I mention how nice it is to have my man on days?!!! Several people at church have noticed that he looks younger. He isn't having trouble breathing at night, no more heart palpitations, and he is much less grumpy. Yea!!!

Well, she made her bed, so to speak!
SirKit is going to start Alg. II with Joseph this week. Other than that, I'm pretty much going to have him do PSAT prep, using the SAT website and some books we have. I'll also have him do some vocabulary work.
The PSAT is on Oct. 21, and he'll take that down in Gulfport. We'll just drive him over there for the weekend from Ft. Morgan, AL, where we'll be staying in October. When he's done with all that, I'll get him going on his curriculum for the year.
