The Hobbit Hole XXX - Then world behind and home ahead...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 06/28/2006 10:14:11 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Then world behind and home ahead

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Glad you're back home safely, Suzi! The flying stuff sounds ridiculous.

Yesterday was a HIGH ALERT day for flying, and I saw a sign to that effect, when I was driving into the airport at Ft. Myers. I didn't know what had happened, though, because I hadn't watched the news or read a paper. Apparently there had been a couple of incidents during the morning, and it just spooked folks, I guess.

Yeah I heard there had been some weird things going on.

Ugh, I hope that it's a good day for flying when people come out for the wedding! It would be a pain if they all got stuck in Minnesota or some such.

Most big bulb retailers (like Dutch Gardens, or Wayside Gardens) will have two catalogs a year - one in advance of the spring planting/summer blooming season and one in advance of the fall planting/spring blooming season. That's how I tell what's what.

I should do tons of bulbs this fall...at least the cheap ones like daffodils.

I've really neglected any gardening these past few months. Kinda sad. But it's hard in the heat and dry weather.

I just chased Tweek back your way a bit ago. Guess she wanted to see what Cartman is all excited about. She took off the second I opened the door, though.

She shouldn't be over there! She has no business being over there.

I know. :-\ Cisco chased her too - hopefully it scared her enough that she won't try again.

What are you interested in today? Wanna come over later for movies and laziness?

I know you're maybe waiting for us to go riding again but we decided we're too lazy today... not sure about tomorrow.

I'm gonna go to the library in a few here...doing dishes now.

Haven't really been waiting. I talked to a friend for about an hour after I got up - catching up. And then talked to my brother Stephen. So...I've been occupied. ;-)

But movies and laziness sounds like a good plan for the afternoon...

Hanging out sounds good. I need some HeadOn, this brothersitting thing is too loud.

Heh... that'd be nice. We have no ibuprofin in the house and I can't go to the store without dragging Youngest Bother along as the only bother capable of supervising him went to work.

Oh well.

You know...being able to go to the store with kids in tow is a good skill to have, considering... ;-)
