The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

It was a great treat to see it - and we didn't want to blink, he wasn't in view for long!

Great pics, guys, those planes are so cool! I've entered into a drawing to win a ride in a B-14 bomber. It's to benefit the schools, so why not? And if I win, heck it's a once in a lifetime opportunity.

That one your son is standing by is a quarter horse.

That's great news! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on the rewrites going smooth. How did the Alana thing pan out?

Hey. Well, I sent it back this morning for the third time:') None of the classes start until late July and she will be back in school before they are finished. I told mom to tell them. I'm going to send them some stuff in their area.

It's been raining off and on all day here. I've been working around the house. I was told yesterday that in 2 weeks I'm going part time. 20 hours a week. 2 1/2 days a week. I can handle that. We went and bought groceries today and are going to cut back on eating out. I have been dumping a lot in my 401K. I may have to stop that and maybe schwan. It will be worth it though. Next time I travel though I don't know if I'll drive. It took me almost 400 dollars in gas!

Sarah was talking about her trip. The best part of the trip seemed to be Darcy:')

5-8 weeks. It would still be putting her around late August/early Sept. I think she said she goes back around the middle of August. I liked her. She seems like a good kid, and honest. She told me she does good by herself but she lets her friends talk her or dare her into stuff:') I think she was kind of relieved that it wasn't just her that was a roamer and skipped school. Now she knows she gets it honest.

So what are yall doing the 4th? I wanted to go to Louies on the island and eat supper and watch fireworks on the bay. I was reminded that I couldn't afford it. We went to Walmart today. He was eyeing everything in my basket. I think he's getting pleasure in overseeing my finances.

Darcy had a blast playing with Sarah and JJ. She remembered them from the Ralley and was unpatiently waiting to play.

Alana is a good kid, she's just very sheltered. Last weekend was good for her.

Good morning:).

Nothing much going on here. Mack is working. Worked thru the night:(, not sure when he will be home. It's already getting hot today. I'm worried about my Dogwood trees. I Planted one last year and one this year. They are not looking good at all, altho I've been watering them like crazy. Their leaves are all curled up...The grass is all turning brown. We need rain.

It's early in the summer still too.... I hope you get your rain.

I was just thinking it'd be really neat if we got some rain this week before you came. Our pasture's starting to dry up. I wish I had a way to water it. I was picturing yesterday that we could buy pipe and run a new line and.... heh. Gets expensive.

Good morning!

Some of the hay meadows that are between my house and town were baled last week. I noticed that they didn't get as many bales as those fields usually make. Hay is going to skyrocket and there will probably be shortage. If I was a horse owner that had to buy hay, I'd be buying everything I could right now...if they landed up with too much by the end of winter, it could probably be sold for double.

I'd almost think all the sod farms around could get more baling right now then selling it as sod...The sod fields all have sprinkler systems.
