The FreeRepublic Saddle Club - Who's Who *pics*

This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.

I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts… look for it there and wake the thread up!

I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in…. There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics… land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news…. Legislation that might affect horse owners.

So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

Oh, she wasn't complaining:) It costs $20 to enter, so she paid for the whole trip and then some:)

Well, I've started thinking along the lines of getting a suitcase soon...first I need to get a few clothes tho:). Everything I've got is getting rather ragged. I'm not much of a shopper, so I don't get anything till it's a have too thing. It's a good thing a have too thing has come up:)

With this heat I've been wanting new hot weather summer clothes that fit, aren't in tatters or stained too. So we both go shopping next week :~)

You need a suitcase? They can be expensive if you're buying one new. I'd try thrift shops!

LOL,,,yeah, I want to get a new suitcase. The ones we have are the ones I went to college with. They are hot pink samsonite:). Hey, I was a college girl.

But even besides the color, I want one of those with wheels. Since Mack won't be around:). I found one at Wal Mart, that;s not too bad. I might have to wash clothes once while I'm there, depending on how much I can cram in them:).

I guess. I'm just a bit worried this year because we are so dry around here...makes going to bed worrisome, altho I don't think I have anything to worry about, but I do have more around now then when the burn ban was in effect. I mentioned to Mack yesterday, I'm surprised it hasn't been reissued.

Wheels are really nice :~D

You can do laundry here, certainly, if you want to be frugal with what you bring we can always wash clothes :~) Especially riding we'll get dirty dusty.

Are you planning on getting one that is carryon size or are you planning to check it?

Our lows have been around 50.

If you're worried about packing too much that is bulky, I can loan you jackets/sweaters/sweatshirts as needed too.

I absolutely hate fireworks any more. I used to be milder but the last few years I've lost most of my good humor about them. All they do is upset my peace.

Well, I was planning on checking it. One I don't think I could get enough to last a week in a carry on, and two, I don't know that I could lift it up and get it in the overhead thingy's....especially if it was real heavy. And jeans are heavy and that's about all I wear.

OK, that will work.

Will checking the bag, really slow us down at the airport? The few times I've been on a plane, it wasn't really all that long to wait, but I've only been on a plane 2 other times....Since it will be late, I hate to keep you waiting.

That's fine to check it. If you're checking it, too, you can bring things that might not be allowed to carry on.

It's not as fun to meet folk at the airport any more, since they don't let me go to the gate, so if you're checking a bag, I'll just pick you up at baggage claim. At the time of night you'll be coming in, it won't be crowded, there will just be a few flights coming in, and we'll have no trouble finding each other. I can park right outside the door and stand by my truck :~)

Nah. I'm on number 25. 4 more to go. I've about got it,I think. I figured it out though. This thing had "vague, re-write" all over it. He wants it simple and straight forward. I am so used to writing policy and procedures that it is ingrained in me to leave things open and vague. You get specific with that stuff and don't leave yourself an out and the state will nail your butt to the wall. I just have to gear this stuff to a different audience.

Good news though. My classroom inspection went really well. He seemed impressed that I had studied the regs and had everything he asked for. They can't tell you if you passed or not but I felt really good about it. Eddie said he told the administrator he liked my program and that it was needed in the community. We'll see.
