On another subject -- more near and dear to you, I understand...

My trusty Wintel box now has compeny; some friends of ours gave my kids a PowerMac 7200/75. I've got a cable modem right into my PC, but will likely want to get the Mac on-line, too, but networks aren't my forte.

So, what's my set-up: Cable modem into router, then split to each computer from the router?

I'm not that skilled at networks.

Do you guys run a router, or is the pee-cee directly connected to the 'net?

I have a router for DSL--if the computer doesn't connect to the DSL right away,

What version OS are you running on the Mac?

Exactly. You may need guidance and help from the cable company. Don't be reluctant to call -- it's no extra charge and that's what they're there for.

Take inventory of your cables in case you need to purchase one or two.
