WASHINGTON, May 31 — After vowing to steer a greater share of antiterrorism money to the highest-risk communities, Department of Homeland Security officials on Wednesday announced 2006 grants that slashed money for New York and Washington 40 percent, while other cities including Omaha and Louisville, Ky., got a surge of new dollars.

Homeland security officials said the grants were a result of a more sophisticated evaluation process

Whatever the case may or may not be, I urgently suggest that all parties, whether directly or indirectly involved or not, immediately begin plannig to eshew obfuscation of the issue as it could possibly be. Or not.

Ah, yes, but you forget that I have young children, and a big home library.

As a sidebar: I made a pretty decent estimate a couple of years ago that we have something on the order of 3,000 books. These range in difficulty from pre-readers to a few post-graduate level texts.

"... called a spade a spade..." I generally do. Unless I trip over them in the shed.

This could be worked into a really killer tagline.

Unless you prefer otherwise.

Ah, the rain has arrived. Nice, soaking, cool rain.

Flip a little of it out our way, would you, please? We've gotten just enough to wet the roads and reach the ground (those few spots where it's not under trees), but no more than that -- and it's warm, not cool.

Hi Sandy long time no text!

I know. I've been way busy, but I took a sick day today so I have some computer time. Not that that's why I did it...

I'll see what I can do. It's stopped for now, but there's a nice cool breeze.

I thought I heard thunder earlier, but it was probably just the boys at Ft Lewis playing with their stuff.

My favorite trick is to feed lots and lots of info into my head and... watch it silently disappear.

What were we talking about?

Well, it does beat having your opponent kicking you in the shins under the table on international TV.

They may have grown more cooperative

This was less than 2 weeks ago.

I got it working about 15 minutes after the modem was set up. (Mostly because I decided to RTFM *before* I booted up some other machines for testing...) And working the way *I* wanted it to maybe 10 minutes later.

The more data you have, the more you can cross reference it, the more patterns you see...and recall becomes easier!

If IT doesn't want it you may claim it for tagline usage.

I am looking for my next tag line in the paper that I am currently writing proving that money indeed can buy happiness.

Of course the more patterns you see the further you are lead into the Great Pattern which leads to enlightenment.

Or paranoia.

I'm fairly good at simple Sudoku, as long at it is played with symbols and not numbers. But even that is surprising to me, with the way my brain works these days...:o|

Really?! That's odd. But probably pretty telling to some psychologist or another. I'd probably find symbols harder because I'd have to memorize the "set of 9 symbols" -- with numbers it's easier because I just use the counting sequence.

OTOH, I have a game on my PDA (not played in a while) that is a "Beadazzled" knock-off (or whatever the original was). That would be much more difficult with numbers, I suspect, than symbols.
