It was great and shown on a show about the top fifty pranks of all time.

Probably on VH1.

Bono probably wondered what the old guy was doing right at the stage. LOL

It came alive -- just as my brand-new* Mac came alive...8^)

Earlobe can be dry skin of if your ears are pierced, the ear ring might have gotten caught earlier.

Don't be sorry - they were more exciting than my alternative... working on the dissertation. :-)

In reality, it's all emulated.

The system is set with the host system is Suse Linux 10.1 (which I upgraded to over the weekend). Then I reconfigured the SheepShaver emulator.

After picking up a copy of Mac OS 8.6 from a rummage sale, creating an 800MB disk image and then installing OS 8.6 on that image, the system's running fairly smoothly--in fact, I'm typing this in Internet Explorer 4.5

As stated above, the next step was to whittle and file datum surfaces at the guard and pommel:

The leather with which I shall wrap the hilt is about .040" thick, so the major and minor axes of the oval datum surfaces are .080" under what I was able to determine the dimensions were for the same (rayskin) surface of the real sword at thos locations.

the rest of the hilt is the "simple" matter of planing, filing, and sanding an even taper between the guides I have now established.

the hilt's cross-section shaping is now complete.
all the hilt's shape lacks now is a refinement of the pommel contour to match the original.
I'm not too concerned with that at the moment.

Simple woodworking.. but I cannot do even that.
I'd have toothpicks and splinters left.

"simple"???

you think manually tapering an ovate from .015 to .070 removal on two faces...

nevermind.

stick to breeding zombies.

;)

Well, it was simple to my grandfather.
He had the woodworking skill.

I produce splinters, kindling, and tinder.

Seems connected to my talent for fire.

I am quite negatively talented with woodworking.
Unless it is dealing with combustion.

My ears aren't pierced. I don't need any more holes in my head than what were there when I was born. ;-)

At least you were doing something interesting. I was just working on the "big paper." I realized it was late, so I put everything away for the evening... and now I'm not tired.
