Hot Coffee Blues

I've got an empty cup this morning, I got the coffee blues today,
I've got an empty cup this morning, I got the coffee blues today.
My baby left and took the grinder, can't make no coffee here today.

Hot coffee in the morning, hot coffee in the afternoon,
Hot coffee in the morning, Hot coffee in the afternoon,
Don't forget to leave some sugar so I can use my coffee spoon.

Some people like that Mocha Java, some people want Kenyan AA
Some people like that Mocha Java, some people want Kenyan AA,
Some people just by Folgers, don't want to grind no beans today.

Some people buy a perculator, some people drip that coffee strong,
Some people buy a perculator, some people drip that coffee srtong,
If it tastes the way you want it, you know that you did not do wrong.

Do you drink it dark as midnight, or do you like it just au lait,
Do you drink it dark as midnight, or do you like it just au lait?
It don't really even matter long as it tastes good to you that way.

I've got an empty cup this morning, I got the coffee blues today,

Dusty coffee is very bad.
I have instructed the zombies and the dust bunnies to stay far away from the coffee making items.

(Though the one dust bunny has a taste for coffee grounds.)

Hopefully it won't get a taste for raw coffee beans.

I worked with a guy once who had been hiking along the west shore of Lake Tahoe with a friend of his, along a trail well above the lake, west of the west shore highway, overlooking a beach area and sporting breathtaking views of the whole lake.

As they were hiking north, they they came upon a granite boulder the size of a VW bug that appeared to be balanced on a small point just at the at the east edge of the trail. The friend looked at my coworker, planted his palm on the megalith, and said something like, "Hey, wouldn't it be wild if I gave this thing a push and it took off down the slo...oohh !#$%!!!!!"

They both stood in horrified shock as this ???-ton boulder shifted, crackled, then tore in a hurtling mass of thunder down the slope, through the chaparral toward the highway far below. It dropped over an edge, down a near-vertical face, and for a long while all that could be heard was an ominous thundering rumble. Then, suddenly, the rampaging rock shot out of the undergrowth and careened across the two-lane highway just at a moment when no cars were passing -- by the grace of The Almighty.

By this time, sunbathers on the beach were noticing the oncoming sound of thunder and beginning to turn their gaze toward a stand of tall trees, which was all that stood between them and a heinous death. My coworker and his friend stood aghast at the prospect that a Wile E. Coyote moment, done wholly in jest, might be nearing a terrible crescendo of doom for some very unlucky vacationer(s) on the beach below.

They watched as the boulder roared into the trees in a cloud of dust and uprooted foliage, wincing as many smaller trees were subsumed like grass in it's path. At the moment when all hope seemed lost, there was a tremendous, resounding, **##!!!CCRRAAASSSHHHHH!!!##** and one of the largest trees was shaken violently all the way to its topmost branches, like an old towel being whipped side-to-side by a Boston Terrier.

When the resounding booms faded, the tree stood firm and people began to make their way up from the beach to see what all the ruckus had been. My coworker and his hiking buddy -- relieved to the point of feeling faint -- decided that it would be best to just move along. In the mountains, rocks fall fairly often, but there's no use putting ones-self in a position to have to explain why one might happen to do it when you're standing right there next to it.

So that's why the coffee tastes campy...8^)

We had these bags of coffee when I was at camp--they sat in the dining hall all year and were sometimes nicked. Perhaps why the chow hall coffee tasted, er, weird...

Probably.
And if they double brewed the coffee like I normally do... well, it would be pretty bad.

I don't think we double-brewed it...

We just chalked it up to being Nifda...

Lacuna Coil - Purify
From the album "Unleashed Memories"

I cannot fight against myself
No more
Self destruction that I predicted
Not a long time ago

Petrified

Thoughts so far from me

The power of my justice blows me away
It's just the case to repeat
What I've never said to you before

Celebrate
I'm alive again

You don't expect from me
This chain reaction
You can't imagine from me
This great affection

See the structure of my pride
Wasn't easy to build it away from this
I never walked away from you
I never walked alone

A pleasure makes me vibe again tonight
I'm just thinking how fine it is to feel myself so fine again

Celebrate
I'm alive again

It's time to turn the page and start
And then
Don't you think that it's time
To convince yourself it's over?

Celebrate
I'm alive again
