When astronauts return to the Moon, they should keep their eyes peeled for extraterrestrial artefacts pieces of technology from alien civilisations that have wound up on the lunar surface either by chance or design.
So says Ian Crawford, a researcher from University of Londons Birkbeck College in the UK. He told a SETI specialist meeting of the Royal Astronomical Society (RAS) in London last week that although he considers such a find a long-shot, it is definitely worth bearing in mind.
This is not a primary reason to go back to the Moon there are very strong scientific reasons for going back. But if we go back to the Moon in the next 20 or 30 years, then amongst those things we might like to keep our eyes open for are alien artefacts, Crawford told New Scientist.

And ET looky loos. :-)
Why would there be apparent evidence of extraterrestrials having landed on the Moon without much sound evidence of extraterrestrials visiting the Earth?
The Moon would be an excellent location at which to leave an 'alert' beacon, to send a message back to ET thzt the intelligent life on the parent planet of the Moon has finally stepped over the threshhold and into space.
No offense intended, KevinDavis, but New Scientist suffers from a certain credibility shortfall. A friend of mine was once interviewed by the same and, let's just say the final article was not accurate. That is not new in reporting politics or news events, but then this is science. There are no aliens on the moon. They are in the southwest US.
Shouldn't that be "migrants"?
Great art work, but where do you get the time?
From the story, I gather they wouldn't be looking for evidence of extraterrestrials who actually landed on the Moon, but for tiny bits of debris from their activities in space which drifted for eons between the stars (or even between the galaxies), finally entering our solar system and crashing into the Moon. Possible of course, but it sounds very, very far-fetched to me! Almost a waste of time. Now if you see a big chunk of something on the Moon's surface, that's different. But who wants to waste their life examining every grain of sand on the Moon looking for something that had to be made by ET?
I've got time. Just a matter of working it into my schedule.
There's more on my home page if you want to see it.
You think??
I used to subscribe to SETI and donated to them freely. But they've become a group of nuts. I still get their newsletter every now and then and I get the creepy feeling they would line up four-square behind Algore. Creepy
A lunar insertion and landing might be a lot easier than
entering earths atmosphere and returning to orbit.
Why just the cost of fuel alone....
Besides you wouldn't have to worry about interuptions or
men in black.
There are glass skyscrapers 20 miles tall on the moon. They should watch out for those especially during flight operations.
I still get their newsletter every now and then and I get the creepy feeling they would line up four-square behind Algore. CreepyOf course they would. Sagan was a Dhimmicrat, and staked his claim on SETI (or CETI, as it was once dubbed), and his lemmings followed him in.
This looks like a good one for the UFO / Alien list, also. :')
Only doing the lunar work that earthlings won't do....
