Three years ago at the beginning of the Iraq war, the lead singer of the Dixie Chicks, Natalie Maines, told a concert crowd in London, "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United Sates is from Texas." That statement set off a firestorm against the Chicks. Many Americans saw the quote as unpatriotic, especially in a time of war.
Subsequently, Miss Maines apologized for the tone of her remarks, but stands by her opposition to the Bush administration. Now the Dixie Chicks have a new CD which some stations will not play the lead single from, a song that says the Chicks aren't ready to back down from anything. It's a pretty good song. There is no reason not to play it. At a Time magazine event last night, I ran into Natalie Maines, who is not exactly my No. 1 fan. She chided me for predicting on this program that the new CD she has out would sell just two million units, which is pretty good these days. We had a discussion about it a few weeks ago. She saw the show.

Al Franken has a completely different take on the Bill O'Reilly meeting. He said that Bill came up to them and said great song and then Natalie called him a jerk. He went on to say that Bill has said horrible things about them even as recently as January. He also played a piece where Bill says the DC have not recovered to this day. He then goes on to list statistics about Home and how the DC in 2003 had the #4 selling album on the top 200, #1 selling country album and that they set records with their tour. What he doesn't mention is that the DC sold all of those albums before the comment - they built those statistics in three months. Had they released the album in March it would never have sold as much. The only truth was regarding the tour. The tour began after the incident, even though tickets went on sale before the comment, and was sold out.
The dixie chicks never even voted until AFTER the comments were made. 2004 was their first time ever voting. They are fake activists, fake artists, fake blondes, and fake dixie (nat is the only one that is from the south.

We begin by speaking with Natalie's uncle Kenny Maines, who lives here in Lubbock he tells NewsChannel 11 he believes the song "Lubbock or Leave It" is part of a healing process. (snip)Her uncle and Lubbock musician Kenny Maines says this album is therapeutic for her, as it was hard on the trio when some fans opted not to listen to them after Maines' comment about President Bush.
"Probably some feelings were hurt, in my opinion it was blown out of proportion, everything from both sides. At some point, hopefully we'll all move on from this," said Maines.
On the Dixie Chick's Henhouse website, Maines says "The song is not just about Lubbock but about any small hypocritical town."

As you can clearly see most of the residents see right through the bs...its the libs that want to continue using the chicks as pawns as a means of retribution for us brain washed bush lovers that are supporting them.
The comments are typical from liberals, name calling and complete hypicracy. The apple doesnt fall far from the tree. Natalie being the lemming she is, will jump on any bandwagon "dejour" if she thinks it will make her accepted by those she percieves as being cooler than herself. Which in reality is just about everyone.
Natalie doenst have an original oversized bone in her body. "Everyone Knows" that. ;)
Didn't have any Dixie Chicks CDs, but I did the same thing with Bruce Springsteen's CD. It felt good!

Nat never apologized. She never intends to apologize, and the only way she wants to "move on" from this argument is when she's satisfied she came out of the fray on top, a winner, and struttin' away with a smirk on her face.
She seems to consider herself wa-a-a-ay above "little hypocritical towns" these days and, who knows, she may not think she needs that "crucifix skyline" anymore. She may have "moved on" too far in some areas. (To a big ole hypocritical city where hypocrisy is an art form.) Hope not, but, if so, that is sad.
