You always bring a smile to a girl's face. When are you coming home?
That seems to be my habit as well.
Prayers being said.
Friday
Are you speaking about troll posts on ATRW thread itself or the news forum? For the first, I think pretty much "yes". This is as Dolly says, a livingroom thread. We don't have to put up with garbage here any more than the Dose or the Hobbit threads do. (Note, I'm not advocating the squelching of constructive discussion and disagreement even on this thread. I am talking about trolls, hijackers and garbage posts.)
If you are referring to the News Forum then my answer is "Nope, not necessarily". The mods will make the ultimate decision and that's their role. And turning questionable posts or posters over to the mods for their attention and evaluation is better than just letting the crud stand.
You're probably correct. However, unless it's profanity, I usually just ignore them.
More than anything else they want attention. Ignoring them is my way of dealing with them.
For the record, here are the definitions of WIT:
1. The natural ability to perceive and understand; intelligence
2. a)keenness and quickness of perception or discernment; ingenuity
b) sound mental faculties; sanity
3.a) The ability to perceive and express in an ingeniously humorous manner the relationship between seemingly incongruous or disparate things
b) one noted for this ability, especially one skilled in repartee
c) a person of exceptional intelligence
Well, this Immigration issue has kicked my family square in the teeth. (settle down for a lengthy read)
I have a Cousin 5 yrs older than me. We were raised almost like sisters after my father's passing when I was 7. It was her Dad who became my surrogate father.
One of her sons, career military, met a young woman and fell in love, while stationed in Japan. After a lengthy courtship, they decided to get married 3 years ago. They want to be married in the states (don't know why this is important to them, but it is). Breaking thru the red tape to allow her to come here on a permanent basis has been a true nightmare.
FINALLY her papers have gone thru. INS is giving her exactly 90 days after arriving on U.S. soil to get married, if she intends to stay here. She's been told if she stays here 91 days without being married, she will be immediately deported. Apparently, amnesty is only being considered for Hispanics.
The Catholic Church will not grant them an exemption to the Pre Cana requirement. My Cousin is devistated that her son, the former altar boy and currently U.S. Marine, cannot be married in the church (where he was baptised). Her husband (who also happens to be my husband's cousin) has sworn that he is going to discontinue his church support. This has upset my cousin even more.
I know your prayer lists are full right now. But our family would appreciate a good word on our behalf, if you can spare the time.
Thanks for those WITTY definitions.
1. Call whoever you know who has influence with the government.
2. Go to the Bishop, and if he won't grant an exemption, ask if 3. They can be married in a civil ceremony, live apart, and still have a church wedding after they have completed the Pre Canna.
I fully agree with your first sentence and empathize with your second because I've done the same thing. It's just that evil flourishes when good men do nothing and we do have a responsibility to the forum, IMO.
Last night the troublemakers were asked to take it elsewhere several times. They became abusive, and one even got confrontational with the moderator before he finally decided to go sleep it off or whatever.
Oh my gosh. This is what upset me the most about the immigration matter. That people who are trying to go through channels and do the right thing are given such a hard time. And then because of those restrictions (which apparently don't matter when people come here illegally), they can't be married in the church.
They could get married in a civil service and get married in the church later. Has your cousin contacted her Congressmen? They are pretty useless but we have a friend here who had a similiar situation and her friend (now husband) was coming from Ireland and Sen. Strom Thurmond worked magic.
ARGGGG, D JUST GOT WIND INSURANCE BILL, INCREASE OF 100%!!!!
A despensation from the Bishop was denied. So they will be married in a Civil ceremony. Hopefully, someday they will have their marriage blessed by the church. Right now they are so angry and bitter, I don't think they will pursue it right away.
I don't know if they asked for an extension from a CongressCritter. I will suggest calling Senator Grassley. He seems to have the ability to get their attention.
Prayers storming heaven as I type. Surely there is a priest somewhere that will marry them. Several dioceses have 'weekend' retreats instead of pre-marriage classes. I know they are held in K.C. at the seminary there or they were a few years back.
(((Peach)))
ACK, a 100% increase, oh my.
Thanks, Kassie. It worked out okay. My mom met my wonderful stepdad when I was 12 and they got married when I was 14. How many men would marry a woman with 4 kids? He's a saint, imo. And then we joined the Episcopal church which we enjoyed until about 10 years ago when they started to get waaaay too liberal and political.
It's all in the past now, but some days I do long for incense and a Latin mass.
