She plans to keep a low profile until the students go on trial to avoid inflaming tensions in the black community, where opinion is running heavily against the privileged students.
One of the most hurtful things for the woman about the media circus surrounding the case, the cousin said, is the tendency to assume the worst about her because she is a stripper.
"She's a victim and she's a human being," the cousin said. "Her occupation couldn't justify that a crime like this was committed."

I don't think there is another scenario that is even remotely plausible.
Susan als said that the only way this stops is that the AV tells the DA she's had enough and won't testify at trial....but it won't exonerate the boys.
Once an indictment has been filed, the AV has no control over the case unless the DA agrees to drop it.
In any event, this case is not going away even if the charges are dismissed. Discovery in a civil case against the da, Crystal, the City of Durham and Duke University (including personal claims against some of the professors calling the players rapists), along with all the commentators who have called these guys rapists will be at least as brutal as that in a criminal trial. There are some very deep pockets to go after.

Hell yeah; that's coming. Nifong deserves the ass whoping he will get along with the city of Durham. As for Duke, its a mixed blessing. Their stature is taking down a notch or two. However they love/hate rich white boys. They need the rich part of the equation but hate the whiteness and maleness part.
I think I will just stick to legal theories.
and I hope the families go for the jugular...I'm sure they'd settle for $1 if they could clear their names.
I'm sure their attorneys will just tell them to go home. Sue for defamation??..She doesn't have a dime and the police were justr responding to her accusations (and preventing a race riot).
And they said the test came back negative for that.
That's in the category of "It's OK to work up an appetite as long as you come home for dinner".

If little Crystal can't take the stress and drops it, I hope to God that the parents of these team players counter sue....They deserve to get some satisfaction.
I wonder if refusing to go forward would extend the accuser's anonymity or bring it to an end, i.e. make to fair to print her name and discuss what may have motivated her to lie?
Oh yes, his DNA was demanded, too.

He could have refused to give his DNA. The fact he knew he didn't do anything probably made him pretty confident nothing would happen to him. He could be very wrong.
Someone I don't see their attorneys seeing that way- they would have to run up more legal fees to sue a woman who, if it were found out she was lying, would be unemployable. What money do you think she would have, child support? Student loans? Meanwhile the case continues to remain in public eye for months and years to come.
